If you don't do the things Jesus said, and you call yourself a Christian, are you really a Christian?

This is good Thank you....And the curse is not from God, but it's a result of sin. As in cause and effect.

Just wanting to see some peace here. While at this I need to answer your statement.

God declared a curse against the serpent and against the ground in Gen 3. Later God let up on that after the Flood in
Genesis 8:20-22 (KJV)
20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

He declared that mankind is beset by an evil imagination from his youth. Not since birth. The imagination has to be developed.
Genesis 8:21 (KJV)
21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Genesis 12:3 (KJV)
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

God can and has cursed nature, angels and men.

Jeremiah 17:5 (KJV)
5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

Put your trust in no man. Jesus is the Way..

Galatians 3:10 (KJV)
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

It's an automatic curse to choose to be bound to the Law instead of Jesus. Satan wouldn't benefit from cursing people over that choice.

Men can collude to enjoin a curse to bind them to completion of a sin.
Acts 23:14 (KJV)
14 And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

Well, they failed. I wonder about their unfulfilled purpose. Paul pronounced a curse on any preaching another gospel but the one he preached. Anathema Maranatha! Anyone calling Jesus accursed, let him be accursed. The Lord cometh!

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
is all you really needed. If you are immune from being entangled again, why the commandment?

is all you really needed. If you are immune from being entangled again, why the commandment?

Picking up the cross is a daily event in order to follow Him; Luke 9:23 KJV That means trusting Him as our Good Shepherd each day to help us abide in His word as in His commandments, is how we can follow Him. We look to Him, the author and finisher of our faith to help us lay aside every weight & sin in running that race; Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV

The Old Covenant puts the emphasis on the Jews to do it. The New Covenant puts the emphasis on Jesus Christ to do it and all He asks of us is to believe in Him to help us do the works of God which includes following Him; John 6:28-29 KJV

So it is a matter how you look at His commandments; do you look to yourself to do it by doing the best you can or do you look to Jesus Christ to help you do His commandments? It is one or the other.

The Lord had asked me from a daily reading, "Decide this day whom you will serve. The Lord Jesus Christ or something else in His name." I said out loud, "You, of course." But there was a sense of urgency that remained and so I prayed "Please help me to do this" and I received His peace. About a week later, on vacations with my folks in Missouri, when visiting my Aunt's church, I was exposed to the "holy laughter" movement. I did not know until later on that was what the Lord was warning me about, but He did keep me from falling after that and from serving that movement in seeking the glory of it in His name.

In that same year of 1994, and before that vacation, I had picked up a habit of cussing out at the warehouse to let off steam when no one was around. I came across a pamphlet from Bill Rudge's Ministries that used scripture to convict me of the words of my mouth, but on the back it said to make a covenant with my mouth and so I did to stop cussing out at the warehouse the way I had been doing. The very next day, I was worse than I ever was before, and thoughts came into my head "You are not His. If you were His, He would have helped you to keep your covenant." I had stopped listening to the devil but I was still at my wit's end and so I had asked the Lord why He was not helping me. I heard Him say ( not verbally, but I heard Him, "You made the covenant. You said you were going to do it. I made The Covenant with you and I said I am going to do it. All I ask from you is to believe in Me". I was humbled that day, but He did lead me to His words in scripture to confirm that what I had heard were His words ( Numbers 30:2 KJV & Ecclesiastes 5:4-7 KJV & the why in verse 36 of Matthew 5:33-37 KJV & where our confidence should be in ( Philippians 1:6-11 KJV ). When Promise Keepers movement came into the valley, I tried to warn those involved in it at one Bible study group when one Catholic/Mason said "well, isn't a commitment like a promise? Sure it is." It was then that I finally received what the Lord was trying to tell me that one day and so I declared I will never speak of my commitment to Christ but my faith in Christ from now on. The Lord had set me free from all yokes of bondages to rely on Him ALL the time for following Him. There is no other way to follow Him and any other way is simply a false witness of men's.

Only the Lord can help you receive His words for what He has wrought for me as I bear more fruit and have a better and true witness when I speak of my faith in Jesus Christ as He is the power for helping me to follow Him.

I have chosen not to question a personal testimony, and will not comment. I was not a witness, nor privy to a holy confirmation of it.

If someone came with a testimony and said God told him to say this; and it is not lining up with scripture, you are free to reprove him by the scripture because we are not to believe every spirit but test them. The Lord led me to scripture confirming the word I had heard. He knew I would need that to have a confirmation of the word heard. Since it is about relying on Him for all things for why the just are to love by faith in Him and all His promises to us, then you are free to ask the Lord for confirmation of the word given or to discern what it is that is not of His word to know it was not of Him at all.

You do not have to believe the event, because as you say, you were not privy to the event, BUT if the word spoken runs contrary to scripture as there can be no lie of the truth, the Lord would help you discern that right away in discerning the spirits. We are to prove all things by Him by the scripture in the KJV; even our own supernatural experience because it may not be from God.

Well said here.
We are not running this race alone brother!
As Paul said, I'm also confident in Him.

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Paul was made blind upon meeting Jesus, who was healer of the blind during His ministry. It would have (and did not) made sense to Christians ministering to him then that his experience didn't match up with Jesus' words. Where else did Jesus strike someone blind? We realize later by Paul's testimony that he was blinded to the gospel of Christ as was Israel, yet devoted to the Torah at least in theory. Paul had been trying to honor the First Commandment, but ignored the Second. Discernment of spirits is a Holy Spirit gift not dependent upon mortal intellect alone. What I have learned from that is to be patient until the Spirit directs to correct a testimony.

Many folks listened to a local radio preacher for decades who inserted his belief he would never die since Jesus said in
John 11:26 (KJV) 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

That was the one idea most found fault in, yet few if any preachers dared contest the teaching. Who wants to die if it isn't necessary? The day came decades later (several years ago) when the local AM station announcer said simply "This day did preacher ****** die." Folks were confused about whether to be happy or sad, some taking off work to make sure they caught the local newspaper obituary. A record number of people attended his funeral viewing to believe it happened.

Knowing when a statement actually runs afoul of what is written can definitely require wisdom and patience.

Luke 6:21 (KJV)
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

Abiding in Jesus as He abides in You. When you become a child of the Most High God, you will think about Jesus all the time and love Him . You will have a strong desire to share Jesus with everyone. To tell others that only Jesus can take away our sins, only through Jesus can one enter Heaven. There is tons more to talk about but not now. Be blessed by caring about the Lord.

Luke 6:46; "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?

It sounds like Jesus doesn't think so.

The Lord had to convince the one He had sent to Saul to minister to him so He would have a witness for Saul's conversion as he was blind but then He healed him through the one He sent so that proved the Lord had chosen Saul as Paul.

John 21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? 21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. 23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?

Taking scripture in context with other scripture with His wisdom, one can discern His message that a believer will not die the second death which means having eternal life with God. Obviously His disciples had died so no Christian can be left deluded that they cannot die unless no one corrects him or her by the scripture.

Luke 6:21 (KJV)
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. KJV

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Isaiah 61:10I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

To deny having become a new creature in Christ able to hold the Holy Spirit as a testimony of having been saved thus becoming new wine bottles able to hold the new wine, is to be found naked of our faith in Jesus Christ. To seek a continual filling of the Spirit; to hunger and thirst for any spiritual filling IS to deny wearing that robe of righteousness as well as that garment of salvation. That is why there is no other calling for saved believers to seek after to be filled by. It is done. Hold fast the traditions taught of us or remain in iniquity as those out in the market place seeking to be filled is why they were not ready for the Bridegroom when He comes; indeed, that is why the one not wearing His wedding garment was thrown out for being naked of his faith in Jesus Christ. Believers need to repent or find out the hard way that they are the foolish virgins out to the market.

I have been wondering what exactly makes you a Christian, I would love to hear some of your thoughts!
What makes a Christain a Christain? That is simple, it is Jesus Christ. The word, "Christain" means "Christ-like". You cannot be Christ-like without Christ living in you!

What happens when you do the things Jesus said you would do, and you do them and then this happens......

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Are you a real Christain?

One should always listen the the greatest Bible scholar that walked the earth in a flesh body, Jesus Christ. I disagree that one should use other translations of the KJB for a better understanding or comprehension. People are just fooling themselves if they think this. To study a translation of a translation is vey dangerous. If you study properly, you stay with the Good ole JKB and use a Strong Exhaustive Concordance and take that word right back into the original language. When you do this, the real meaning become clear. I know there are errors in the KJB but there is enough truth there still yet to overcome, when you read with understanding. If you don’t understand what was said, you have gained nothing. One just compounds the error when you study a translation of a translation. Just make sense not to do it.

I always wonder why so many teachers/preachers concentrate on the milk milk milk of Gods word. Cause it very clear that we need strong meat to be pleasing to Christ. Hebrews 5:12-14 here it’s says the baby Christian needs the milk of Gods word but once you have that down, get into the strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. You don’t want to remain a baby Christian all your life. Baby food baby food baby food if not get into the strong meat.

Here are two things that I have never heard taught in church. And let me bring this to your attention, this is the worlds greatest bible scholar that ever walked the earth, JESUS CHRIST. So one had better take note when Christ praised the two churches for teaching these things. Rev 2:9 Christ praised the church of Smyrna. He said that they were rich in knowledge for teaching who those people were that said that they were Jews but were not Jews but lied about being a Jew. Do you know my friends who these people are? Did you ever want to know who they are.? Christ thought it was so important that He put this in two different places in Revelation. Doubled up on this one thing that He wanted his people to know. Rev 3:9 Christ is saying he will make them which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie about it, to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

The second thing that Christ wants His people to know is, the KEY OF DAVID. such a wonderful truth to know and understand. Rev 3:7 With this wisdom you can’t be fooled or lied to. It opens truth up but shut the door on lies and deception. Christ didn’t mention these two things just cause his needed to fill the page. Hope I’ve made some curious enough that they will dig into the things that Christ praised the two churches for.

It was mentioned the KJB had errors in it and those that say that they are Jews and are not, but do lie about, are the ones that put the errors it the JKB. WHY? When you understand who there father was, then you will know the why.

Why is God against those who hunt the souls to make them fly? EZE 13:18-23 God makes it very clear that He is against your pillows, wherewith ye hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms and will let the souls go, even the souls that he hunt to make them fly.

As long as one stays in the milk/ baby food of Gods word don’t expect to make God happy. He says get into the strong meat. Those that only knows milk/baby food are unskilled in the word of God.

I have been wondering what exactly makes you a Christian, I would love to hear some of your thoughts!
Hi Lily, How I became a Christian came about when I came to a realisation that I was unable to rid myself of my sin, and that sin was destroying my life. I came across Jesus when a friend handed me a new testament and through it I was introduced to Jesus. I eventually knelt before him, confessed my sins and asked him to come into my life and heal me. After a while I started to feel the power of the Holy Spirit, more often than not, while I was seeking answers in the bible or sharing my faith with others. One of the answers I found, was that I was no-longer a citizen of the world of which Satan is the Prince, but now I was a citizen of the kingdom of heaven where Jesus is the King. I also found that Satan has no jurisdiction in the kingdom of heaven and as such, has no jurisdiction over me. I am free! Praise the name of Jesus. Bless you Lily

Believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God -- that He died on the cross for our sins / shed His blood/ that He was buried and that He rose from the dead on the 3rd day. That is what Scripture tells us.

That nothing we can do is needed to complete salvation. No good works on our part are needed.

The belief in our heart and confession made unto salvation -- thanking God for His gift of salvation.

Call upon the name of the Lord and you will be saved. That's all found in Romans.
