If your brother sins

When I stop desiring repentance of my sins, I will worry .
When you repent of sin, you won't sin again.
Repent means: turn from, or, change.
If you turn from sin, you don't go back to it.
More sin manifests that no change has taken place.

1. When you repent of sin, you won't sin again.
2. Repent means: turn from, or, change.
3. If you turn from sin, you don't go back to it.
4. More sin manifests that no change has taken place.

1. That is simply not true. There is not a single person who does not sin. 1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. I want you to focus on the underlined please. It speaks to Christians. Not the unsaved.

2. As much as is possible. Paul talks repeatedly of a hatred of what is evil, albeit we are not perfect Rom 7:15. A human is not a god. A human has limitations. Do you expect a perfect wife? There is no such thing. But there is a depth of intent of commitment that we can trust. That is why we stay married despite each other's imperfections. God / Jesus is literally the only perfect spouse.

3. Jesus disagrees with you. Matt 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times''.

4. Not true. That is like saying your spouse that has a single thought of another person may as well not have married you. Jesus says thoughts are a sin in Matt 5:28. But then Jesus also says (for context), do not divorce except for actual sexual immorality / adultery in Matt 5:32.

Conclusion:

You are pushing a half truth.

I do believe you need to bring some evidence to support your assertion of godlike perfection. As discussed on another thread, perfection implies your love for others is perfect. Until you actually bring evidence of more love for people then say Mother Theresa (whom I believe was far from perfect, placing someone like you and I, even further), these are the facts concerning you in my mind. 1. You are literally the only person I have ever heard espouse to be absolutely perfect. Ringing every alarm bell in me on new age heresy. 2. I literally only have your word over the internet to go on. I must believe that over facts? Facts are, I have not met a single perfect person. So if you are correct, you are the only person I know going to heaven.

So, not to be rude, but you do kind of have to supply evidence of your perfection, before anyone can take you seriously. You really do. Until you do, you are literally coming a cross as a troll.

The power or dominion of sin has been broken, destroyed and defeated over a believer.

This enables a believer to grow in the Spirit and overcome sinning.
Some things are easier and quicker and some take longer .

It's all done through growth and any one who thinks different is only fooling themselves.
Blessings to you

Sheesh bro I was going to like this reply of yours but the quote stops me.

Is the above uplifting or edifying or loving?
Just a thought but you would do well to leave out things like this.

Blessings to you
;)

It is direct. Being direct can be uplifting, edifying and loving Pro 27:6.

I don't like all the 'sweet' replies. It does not always help. Christians can take a rebuke. We are not 'snowflakes'. Our house is on a rock. There is often no other way to 'actually' grow.

Maybe if I re read this later I will agree with you, but for now, I don't .

if you have to resort to name calling you are not growing you are sliding back.

Matthew 5:22
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.

Ephesians 4:31-32
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Colossians 3:8
But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.

1. Saying ''you are coming across as a troll' is hardly name calling. Scripture is full of harsh rebuke for false teaching.
2. Please re-read that scripture in its context. You are becoming guilty of a false accusation.
3. Slander?
4. Obscene talk?

I said someone is becoming a troll. That is not slander or obscene talk.

Troll = One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing disruption and argument.

1. That is simply not true. There is not a single person who does not sin. 1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. I want you to focus on the underlined please. It speaks to Christians. Not the unsaved.
Quite the contrary.
John is talking to the church about two different types of "walk".
Part of 1 John 1 is addressed to those who walk in darkness, and part to those who walk in the light...which has already been written of as "God". (Ver 5)
Those walking in the dark cannot say they have no sin.
Those walking in the light, God, (wherein is no sin), can say they have no sin.

Did you marry before you saw the exhortation about not being unequally yoked?
Paul's lament in Romans 7 is partially about his previous life as a Jewish Pharisee...continually failing to live according to the law.
But you fail to note his references to "when he was in the flesh", denoting a former time. (Ver.s 5, 18, and 25)

3. Jesus disagrees with you. Matt 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times''.
This was spoken by Jesus before men could kill the flesh with the affections and lusts.
All men, save Jesus were still sinning, as nobody had been given the gift of repentance but those baptized into John's baptism of repentance.
All men still walked in the flesh instead of in the Spirit until Jesus allowed us to be crucified, buried, and raised with Him "to walk in newness of life". (Rom 6:4)
Even now though, we are to forgive anyone who sins against us without limitations.

4. Not true. That is like saying your spouse that has a single thought of another person may as well not have married you. Jesus says thoughts are a sin in Matt 5:28. But then Jesus also says (for context), do not divorce except for actual sexual immorality / adultery in Matt 5:32.
If that thought was adulterous, it is as if she is married to another.
Forgive her or let her leave.
Your marriage was a sham.
Thankfully we are talking hypothetically, eh?

What you opine is that nobody can remain faithful to God.
That is a non-truth.
As for "other words", how about these?...
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." (Matt 5:48)

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32-36)
[33] They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
[34] Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me." (John 17:22-23)

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
For he that is dead is freed from sin.” (Rom.6:6-7)

" There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Rom 8:1)

"Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." (1 Cor 15:34)

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Cor 5:21)

"Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you." (2Cor 13:11)

I have plenty more scriptures that advocate "perfect love".

The power or dominion of sin has been broken, destroyed and defeated over a believer.
This enables a believer to grow in the Spirit and overcome sinning.
Some things are easier and quicker and some take longer .
It's all done through growth and any one who thinks different is only fooling themselves.

Which is it going to be?
Broken dominion or never ending dominion?
I pray all on this site will cast off the flesh, with the affections and lusts. (Gal 5:24)

Saying ''you are coming across as a troll' is hardly name calling. Scripture is full of harsh rebuke for false teaching.

So if we decide to call you a troll then you would be fine with it?

Please re-read that scripture in its context. You are becoming guilty of a false accusation.

What scripture?
What false accusation?

I said someone is becoming a troll. That is not slander or obscene talk

This is true by man's definition of slander or obscene talk.

However God has a different view on what is slander or obscene talk.

Obscene can be said as perverted and according to God, that is Anything opposed to His ways found in His Word.

So then this would violate walking in Love and more.

Troll = One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing disruption and argument.

Argument by who?
The one who does not agree?
The one who gets rude when others don't agree?

1Corinthians13:1
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

Blessings to you

Those who believe and honor God will not be offended by writings advocating perfect obedience to God.
If all Christians are to continue on in sin, why was it necessary for Christ to die and be resurrected?
The OT Jewish religion would have been sufficient for that.
Was it to free the sacrificial animals?

This was spoken by Jesus before men could kill the flesh with the affections and lusts.
All men, save Jesus were still sinning, as nobody had been given the gift of repentance but those baptized into John's baptism of repentance.

How is that? The old testament is full of men repenting before God and God honoring their repentance.

The gift if repentance comes from God and those of the Old Testament were given the chance to repent and many saw this and did.

Which is it going to be?
Broken dominion or never ending dominion?

What is it that you are saying here concerning what I said here

The power or dominion of sin has been broken, destroyed and defeated over a believer.
This enables a believer to grow in the Spirit and overcome sinning.
Some things are easier and quicker and some take longer .

It seems as if you are confusing that the stronghold of sin has been broken and one now can overcome sin with its automatically done away with.

So if we decide to call you a troll then you would be fine with it?

If I was trolling, sure. I am not a snowflake. I judge myself daily. I welcome someone helping me with that.

What scripture? What false accusation?
How is it that I must now read the context? I know the context. I want you to read it for yourself and then grasp the false accusation.
This is true by man's definition of slander or obscene talk.

Obscene can be said as perverted and according to God, that is Anything opposed to His ways found in His Word.

You said God has a different view and then quote your view?

1Corinthians13:1
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

What makes you say I don't have love?

Ending a post with ''blessing to your family'', and mentioning the word 'love' in your post are not signs of love. Not that that is bad, it is well meaning. Love however is, speaking the truth. Putting the effort into reading scripture properly. Not making false accusations. Taking the time for proper discernment and pointing out the fault in a brother. These are signs of love. An enemy multiplies kisses Prov 27:6.

If you cherry pick a scripture, how is it that I must now read the context? Will it help you if I do? I know the context. I want you to read it for yourself and then grasp the false accusation.

When you claim some one is then yes sir you need scripture to show it.

You said God has a different view and then quote your view?

No @KingJ this is God's view. He explains this in His Word. One errors when one uses man's definition for God's Word.

What makes you say I don't have love? Can you prove it?

Ending a post with ''blessing to your family'', and mentioning the word 'love' in your post are not signs of love. Speaking the truth is love. Putting the effort into reading scripture properly. Not making false accusations. Taking the time for proper discernment and pointing out the fault in a brother. These are signs of love. All I read is haphazard accusations off of cherry picked scriptures. An enemy multiplies kisses Prov 27:6.

That was not my point.
Your sharp tones , rudness, accusations and name calling

Is not fruit from Love but it is fruit from the flesh
You then are as pleasant as a clanging symbol or loud bell in some ones ear.

Taking this one line in proverbs does not justify this .

Faithful are the wounds of a friend;

profuse are the kisses of an enemy.

The way in which you are trying to use this is not in context

In the spirit of Matthew 18, wouldn't it be better to take this part of the conversation to a private area of the site? If you can't resolve it between you, then approach one or two trusted others, perhaps moderators, to sort it out.

It's really not a private matter between people and if it was taken to a pm nothing would be gained and others could not contribute.

The moderators here do a great job and will step in if need be.
They also bring in truth and challenge us to dig deep into God's Written Word.

Blessings of grace and peace be yours in abundance

When you repent of sin, you won't sin again.
Repent means: turn from, or, change.
If you turn from sin, you don't go back to it.
More sin manifests that no change has taken place.

It's not cut and dry like that.
One can honestly turn from a sin and get tripped up again and again until they have overcome it.

There is nothing in there that says their repentance was not genuine.

Example,
Walking in Love and Forgiveness .
An employee goes to work and strives for excellence in their work.

A foreman does not like the guy because he does not drink and hang out with them and constantly causes problems and makes up lies about the employee.

The employee repents and and forgives and the foreman keeps up and the employee gets pushed hard and spouts off.

He then repents ask for.forgoveness and prays and walks in Love.

This does not say his repentance was not genuine but it does say he is growing and walking in obedience to God's Word and God Will Be Pleased With Him.
Blessings to you
