"so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one..."
"Jesus answered them, 'Is it not written in your law, "I said, 'You are gods'"?'"
"Through these, he has bestowed on us the precious and very great promises, so that through them you may come to share in the divine nature, after escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire." [1]
Would you like GG to look into how Catholic theologians (like St. Thomas Aquinas or St. Athanasius) interpreted these specific verses regarding theosis?""Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." [2]
"For the Son of God became man so that we might become God." [1]
"The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods." [1, 7]

The part where Jesus resurrects and people want hugs and a beach side fish fry? This is talking about the baptism though because after getting baptized you should be walking in newness of life and if you do you shall live eternally. God even showed Peter we have to put off this earthly tabernacle. So I don't understand where you get the idea that we will be flesh and blood beings forever.
"Jesus said to her, 'Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, "I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."'"
(Note: Traditional Latin translations render "Stop holding on to me" as Noli me tangere, or "Do not touch me.")
"Then he said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.'"
"And he said to them, 'Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.' And as He said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed, He asked them, 'Have you anything here to eat?' They gave Him a piece of baked fish; He took it and ate it in front of them."
⁵⁰ This I declare, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
⁵¹ Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed,
⁵² in an instant, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
⁵³ For that which is corruptible must clothe itself with incorruptibility, and that which is mortal must clothe itself with immortality.
⁵⁴ And when that which is corruptible clothes itself with incorruptibility and that which is mortal clothes itself with immortality, then the word that is written shall come to pass:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
️¹ Then I saw a New Heaven and a new Earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
² I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
³ I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will always be with them as their God.
⁴ He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away.”
⁵ The one who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then he said, “Write these words down, for they are trustworthy and true.”
⁶ He said to me, “They are accomplished. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give a gift from the spring of life-giving water.”
"Immortal" is the word you are looking for. Enjoy the perfect fish sandwich. This is talking about the baptism though because after getting baptized you should be walking in newness of life and if you do you shall live eternally. God even showed Peter we have to put off this earthly tabernacle. So I don't understand where you get the idea that we will be flesh and blood beings forever.
So when we get an immortal body and can no longer die then what would we be? Man still?
I understand the distinction you're making, and I agree that Genesis 3:5 does not say Adam and Eve would literally become God. But that was exactly my point. This is black and white thinking.
Gen 3 5 doesnt say they will become God. But become as Gods.
You're making a distinction that Scripture doesn't make. You say Adam and Eve gained "intrinsic knowledge" of good and evil without experience, but where does Genesis 3 actually say that? And where does Scripture say this is why it is so easy for us to sin today? Not exactly.
They gained intrinsic knowledge of good and evil by that tree, without experience, which is why it is so easy for us to sin to this day.
You're still not showing us where Scripture teaches that mankind was created to become gods. You're taking God's promises of eternal life and glorification and turning them into something He never said.GOD came from everlasting so this scripture in context is talking about Israel making idols and worshipping them.
I mean we look like God and Jesus said himself that the scripture cannot be broken. I'm just showing the people what the savior himself said.
Well I did do that. If you need more proof let's go back to the beginning.
Genesis 3: 1 - 6, 22
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Have you ever wondered why Satan is such a good liar? Well because he always make a true statement amongst the lies he is telling. Now here is the thing if you tell a lie the whole thing is corrupted but you cannot get someone believe a lie that is outrageous.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Eve seriously thought oh for real I can be like God? Then she listened to whatever Satan had to say. Seriously though if they had spoken to God instead he would have taught them how to live forever.
Now look at what Jesus is going to say
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Can anyone here dispute this? This what Psalm 82 is talking about. We accepted the person of the wicked and now we die like men. Now mankind has lost access to the Tree of Life which will allow us to live forever. Satan is evil and cannot die hence why the Lake of Fire will be created for him and his servants. We need to come out of darkness and choose Jesus and gain eternal life.
Revelation 2: 7
7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
If we are the sons of God and we can now live forever what does that make us? Man still? Same way Jesus was able to walk on water we will be able to do that too, heck you will be able to turn water to wine and you can fly just like angels. You won't be in the Godhead so I don't want anyone to say that I said that. All I'm saying is God has a great reward for his servants and we don't consider it.
I'm just interjecting here with one instance I know that sounds like, "Jesus said we could do the Superhero things".So I'll ask you again. Where does Scripture actually say mankind was created to become gods? Please show us the passage rather than adding meanings to verses that don't teach it.
Laugh it off at the next action movie because the bad guys nowadays have Directed Energy Weapons, but Christians have whatever God agrees with. ONLY in that sense do I imagine that Jesus implied such in Psalm 82, and Saint John 10(v34). Really, who am I to argue context?"Josheb-basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter."
