With all the Message Bibles in the world, including those in different languages, I'm still a betting man!
No doubt, if God is in you, you can pull / drift awayat times but where are you going to go that he is still not there in you? This is diametrically apposed to what man had in the Old Testament! Then, on top of everything else, you had to complete your forgiveness on the Day of Atonement and that had to be repeated every year. Jesus finished his work on the cross and unlike the Priests of Old that had to be replaced and their work was never finished, Jesus is our final priest and he sat down for all eternity!
Because , as promised, he NOW lives in us! Your opportunity has been finalized by God's free gift of grace to us, not so in the OT, which was dictated by laws, rule and requirements!
You can call him unfair if you want, I call him holy, righteous and blameless and give him all the glory, while I take none!
Dear Brother,
When I provided a table of YLT, NIV, & TM (#28). Did you or anyone else for that matter Google the phrase I mentioned and one I will circle below and highlight?
O.K, enough..don't read the Message because it insults you. it does not insult me and I will continue to read it with no shame....that should end this conversation. At least we can agree that Jesus is Lord and it is all of him and none of us! Amen?If you were to bet. I'd rather you bet on the quality and not the quantity of the product.
By the way did you google that phrase and do you have any thoughts on the results?
Always in love brother.

If you study and give Eugene Peterson a fair shake, you will find that he is a fine Christian and more knowledgeable than most, certainly more than me. He wrote the Message only after he had taught from the original Greek. As best as I can tell, the original books of the Bible were not written in formal language. Eugene's Message tries to recapture the Word in the words we use today.can you relate to me what you like about the Message?
That is hard for me because I like several. I like the KJV but, I don't live in a world of Thees and Thous. If I was hard pressed and had to narrow down my personal choice, it would be the RSV or the NIV!I'm curious about what is your favorite Version of the Bible to study?

Are you not including yourself with all the rest of us?You and all here know one thing.
My point, is that I leave that understanding to the holy Spirit! They can only present the strongest case possible, with scriptural support in the hope that what they believe to be true can be seen by others as such
So, if we have come to a cross-road, so be it but, again....I hope we can at-least agree that Jesus is lord and it is by his free gift of Grace...all of him and none of us!We come to many a fork in the road and wind up going our separate ways as it pertains to many things that have been discussed.
Again, I am not deceiving myself...maybe you are saying that I am deceiving myself....again, I do love you but, I will leave that discernment up to Jesus!Just don't deceive yourself

Here is my point that I tried to express but, much to the chastisement of others. First and foremost, I accept my chastisement from God and no one else. To that point, my contention is that, with him in me and, even-though as inadequate as I am personally, with him in me, he leads me in truth no matter what I may be reading at the time....This includes my current desire to read and study the Koran.

If , I may suggest just...research some of your favorite verses that you really understand and compare!Hey, I'm Ok with that. I'm going to read some out of the "on line" Message.
Your in good hands, and I don't mean "Allstate".
Here's a little reminder. God loves the fact that you trust Him in this way because His Son died for the love of your trust.

I think so!
- Thanks, isn't that awesome?!
- @Chopper , I just wish others new him like you do!
- I am not perfect and I drift a bit once in awhile. When, I do...God has a pretty good trick he works on me, he makes go back, like the old hymn says: " How precious was that day I first believed" and he draws right back to his grace. He loves me and i love him!
Sure, yours is such a humbling spirit!Thank-you for your apology and your sharing.

Yes, deflates the need to impress God!Hey, that's not bad. Sure deflates pride doesn't it. Thanks Buddy, Love You.

I agree with your assessment that God didn't hide ALL the truth from earlier publishers of the bible.I, with English not being my native language, prefer the KJV a lot over other English translations. The archaic words and obsolete expressions urged me to dig deeper to find out more behind it. After checking out and comparing many Bible translations, including Chinese versions, I think KJV is superior over many modern-day translations, whose manuscripts all come from Westcott-Hort. The Chinese Union Version, which is now the predominating Bible version used in Chinese-speaking societies, was published in 1919. It was based on Westcott-Hort also, but sometimes when the translators noticed something wrong, they went back to use the received texts which KJV used. In the NT part of the Chinese Union Version, we can often see in the brackets saying (some other manuscripts have/do not have xx words or xx verses), leaving some room for the readers to decide. Thank God, these brackets showing differences are still shown in the text body, not somewhere in the footnote like NIV.
Many modern translations, on its preface, say that we have discovered more superior texts today which were not available to KJV translators of the 15th century. Translators today know more and better Greek. However, the faith of modern day people are fading away. I simply don't believe God has concealed the "superior texts" from us for centuries and then let them be unearthed in the 19th century, which is a latter part of endtimes, in order to bring another round of spiritual revival or something. No, there is not going to be any spiritual revival any more. As time goes by, the closer we come to the endtimes, the more unfaithful people are going to be. Even the elect will be deceived and many are going to fall away. This is Satan's work, not God's.
