Hi all. This is such a long thread that it would take a week to read through. Apologies in advance if this has already been spoken about...

Can anybody direct me to the verse that says that if a Christian then rejects Christ they are lost forever? If this has been covered in the thread could somebody please point it out to me?

I am inclined to agree with you Nologoboy, this is a long thread. I am not sure but I don't think anyone even clarified or defined "saved" or what we are "saved" from, so it would be very difficult to answer your question. There are so many different ideologies concerning this topic, to discuss and reason it out properly "saved" should be difined first.
 
Dear Lord Jesus, I pray for Your Wisdom, Grace given by You Jesus needs to know Your Heart. Lucifer was not condemned in his righteous state, but in his unrighteous state(satan), adam also was not condemned when he walked with GOD, it was when he chose another way. Jesus died for us, all sin is paid for, yet only those who allow Him to cover their life with His Blood can recieve His Spirit, once saved always saved, should be reworded, once loved always loved, remember to use His Divine Truth, not mans opinions. GOD knows the hearts;

To understand, it is not you or I who causes us to be saved, it is by being obedient to His Spirit, either you are allowing Christ to change you into His Holiness/Righteousness in His Spirit displaying that you truly love Him, that you recieved Him from your heart, mind and soul, not only in your mind. GOD knows His Sheep.

We read here, there are many who will sit down, eat and drink and hear us, but they truly in their hearts do not wish to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. A Good Tree does not produce bad fruit. It is ok to discern without judgement. Lord Jesus, open our hearts, show us Your Truth, for the season is here, Thank You Father, Lord Jesus in Your Spirit I share this truth in Your Word.

can we lose our salvation?

i believe that the only sin that can keep us from going to heaven is not excepting Christ and what He did for us.i believe that once you are saved you are always saved. i also believe if you denounce Christ after becoming saved you have also denounced your salvation (blasphemey of the Holy Spirit)the one sin the Lord cannot fogive which is the same as the first. Christ gave us this gift it is up to us to receive it if we truely except Christ and all that He is and all that He did we will be saved always and forever. Amen. I love you all and my prayers are with Godbless

Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy [against] the [Holy] Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Matthew 12:31

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a sin I'm not willing to tangle with but I do question whether or not a follower of Jesus can turn and blasphemy Him enough to lose their ticket to heaven. I know my Lord is a loving King and slow to anger. Even Paul was forgiven his sins against the children of the Lord. I can't fathom a line that can be crossed because I know my Lord is pure love. As a lover of Christ, I can't imagine performing acts that would cause Him such pain. The pain of someone who chooses to deny Christ and dally in blasphemy must feel I can't begin to imagine. Yet, even Satan is a fallen angel. How far can a child of God fall?

You have stepped into eternity the moment you gave your life to Jesus. It is an awesome mystery.

You might find yourself doing all sorts of nasty things. It won't take away your salvation. But it will temporarily take away the JOY of salvation.

Salvation is permanent..... if one has really met with the Savior.

But the joy of your salvation.... the key is in your hand. Follow Him. Take His yoke upon you. Let Christ live. Die to sin... live in the Spirit.

It does not matter how many times you backslide.... all it takes is a genuine heart of repentance. God is not bluffed by false pretense. He stares you in your face. He can see through you.
I encourage all those who read this. Keep short accounts with God. Settle your mistakes as early as possible. The devil might try to make you doubt your love for God. But nobody can snatch you from God's hand.... once you are in Jesus.

This is what I believe to be true. However, as your relationship with God deepens you will have less and less of the desire to sin though being human, you will still do it. Paul struggled with sin when he said "I do what I do not want to do!".

I also think that while God will NEVER turn his back on you, you can turn yours on him and renounce your own salvation. That is a conscious choice, and what I believe to be what is considered 'blasphemy of the Holy Spirit', or the only sin that is not forgiven in this life or the next.

Once you are saved you will go to heaven. is there anything that can change that? take the poll please!

2 Timothy 2: 12If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 14Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

2 Timothy 2:19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. Christ calls us to be ready so that at His appearing for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, it is that firstfruit of that inheritance that is in jeopardy if a believer has fallen away from the faith or have reaped corruption by sinful living. The foolish virgins application can be seen as not keeping the faith in Christ to be shining as the prodigal son application can be seen as giving up his inheritance for wild living. Judgment must fall on the House of God first. Those ready are vessels unto honour as those not ready are vessels unto dishonour.

1 Peter 4:16Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

That is what the pre-tribulation rapture is... judgment on the House of God first. Three harvests make up the kingdom of God as a whole as the first harvest only comes with a meal.

Matthew 13:33Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

There is a pre-tribulation rapture of one sitting down with the Old Testament saints as those that were not ready must go through the great tribulation where at the end of that is the second harvest. Then at the end of the 1000 year reign of Christ is the third harvest after Satan is released from the pit and leads many in rebellion against Jesus Whom defeats them then and then cast death and satan and everybody else not found in the Book of Life into the lake of fire.

1 Corinthians 15:24Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

So the call is to watch and trust in Jesus as Your Good Shepherd to have us ready. Don't take your eyes off of Him to yourself or even to the Spirit or to the Church because both the indwelling Spirit and the faithful witness of the Bride are all saying to come to Jesus. Matthew 7:13-27 and Luke 13:24-30 shows the importancy of keeping your eyes on Jesus to avoid false prophets and false spirits: John 14:6 & John 6:35 & Matthew 11:28-30 & John 5:39-40 & John 10:1,7-9

This is what happens when one does not heed His sayings and follows a stranger's voice, they become the vessels of dishonour where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth for missing out of their inheritance, but Jesus will finish His work in those left behind and then they will follow His voice and be of one fold and one Shepherd.

John 10:16And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

So once again... there are three harvests coming as there are calls for three watches as the first one is the only one with a meal.

Luke 13:37Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. 38And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. 39And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

So all eyes should be on Jesus since He shall be appearing soon. He is our first love, the Bridegroom. That focus cannot be shared with anyone else, not even the Holy Spirit because He is in us pointing us to Jesus to honour the Son and to testify of the Son so as to glorify the Father as Jesus' name is above every other name. He is Our resting place. He is the Door. Any more doors offered in His name.. even after the Holy Spirit, then believers are moving away from their rest in Him.. and climbing up another way not given to approach God the Father.

Rom. 8:38-39 never NO SEPERATION FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST. God who saved you is the same God who will keep you. once saved we are always saved. Our salvation is most definitely eternally secure!
 
Let us look to the scriptures...

Once you are saved, can you fall away and no longer be saved?

There are a few scriptures that deal with this issue very well.

First, there is Galatians 5:4:
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
What happened to those who were justifying themselves by the Old Law of the OT? They were "fallen from grace", implying they were once in grace and fell away.

Second, there is Hebrews 10:26:
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.
Pretty self-explanatory there... "we" is referring to Christians here...no more sacrifice for those Christians who decide to turn back to a sinful life...

Third, there is Hebrews 6:4-6:
4. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5. And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6. If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
This passage is referring to Christians who have tasted the good things in life, but shall fall away if they do not repent.

A fourth is 2 Peter 2:20-21. These verses teach that when a Christian becomes entangled back into the world again, his last state is worse than his first.

Lastly, don't forget the prodigal son that Jesus taught about. This boy left his father (representing one who leaves God the Father and turns to a life of sin). And when the boy decides to return, the father (God) welcomes the son (the sinner who fell away) back with open arms.

At the end of Jesus's parable the son who was with the father all along asks why we should celebrate when the other son had gone into a life of sin. The father (God) answers in Luke 15:32:
It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.
The son was dead and is ALIVE AGAIN. This means he was once alive, DIED, and is ALIVE AGAIN...

Can a Christian be saved, no longer be saved, and then be saved again?.... The scriptures teach this. So why would anyone believe once saved, always saved?

If you have a reply that can rebuke the scriptures I have given feel free. But don't give scriptures out of context that would make the Bible look like it contradicts itself. We must use the Bible in its entirety to make conclusions. The Bible NEVER contradicts itself. So make sure your verses are being used in context please :)

You are right in that no one can lose their salvation, but abiding in Him as in being ready is another matter for many are called, but few are chosen for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb which is the event of the Bridegroom coming for His bride at the pre-tribulational rapture event.

All relationships are based on trust. All relationships should continue to have growth by continually trusting the Lord in helping us to live as His and not just for eternal life. Trusting the Lord is the only Way we can get to know Him personally.

We cannot become unsaved, but we do need to heed how we build on that faith in our relationship with Him.

1 Corinthians 3:10-23 & Hebrews 12:1-29 : Note 1 Corinthians 3:15 & Hebrews 1:29 and why .. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 & Hebrews 12:7-10

The obvious deviation from that relationship is: sinful living as in the prodigal son giving up his inheritance for wild living. Granted, he is still son, but the loss of inheritance is there for him to be having weeping and gnashing of teeth.

1 Corinthians 6: 8Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. 9Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5: 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Those sins of the flesh, believers should take to the Lord in prayer for deliverance. They need to heed His guidance of what sows to that flesh and shun them... even if it is a corrupt company of friends. Trust Him to do His work in you: John 6:28-29 & Philippians 1:6,9-11 & Hebrews 2:18 & 1 Corinthians 10:13 & Hebrews 4:12-16 & Philippians 4:13

The not so obvious are the religious extras they add onto the faith in Jesus that takes their eyes off of Him to some other means in living the christian life, thus voiding faith in Him as being able.

It can be from the commitment to follow Christ in saving yourselves to Promise Keepers or catholicism.

Then there is the spiritual religious by worshipping the Holy Spirit in the worship place (which the indwelling Holy Spirit would never lead a believer to do but to testify and to glorify Jesus Christ and thereby the Father,but not Himself in the worship place as scriptures will testify as the only way to honour the Father is through the Son: John 5:22-23 as that is how we shall be judged and how we can only glorify the Father through the Son John 13:31-32 & John 17:1-5 because there are other spirits in the world and thus all eyes are to be on the Son, the Bridegroom, our first love) to seeking another baptism of the Holy Spirit that comes with evidence of tongues when there is only one baptism of the Spirit as in one hope of our calling : Ephesians 4:4-6 & Colossians 2:5-10 & Matthew 9:17 & Ephesians 1:12-15 Jesus is our resting place as all invitations points to Him. Jesus is the Door and thus there is no other door to the Spirit... for we have received Him as promised.

2 Corinthians 13:5 & Galatians 3:14,26 & Hebrews 11:1,6 & Hebrews 4:1-3,9-11 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 & 1 Timothy 4:1-2 & John 10:1,7-11

Both religious strivings above are works that deny Him as being able, voiding faith in Him and all His promises to us. To me that is akin to the foolish virgins that have no oil (faith) for their lamps.

Titus 1: 15Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Romans 11:5Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

So yes, we cannot lose our salvation, but no, not everyone will be ready when the Bridegroom cometh. Keeping the faith in Him is the good fight. Those that defend their works that voids faith in Him will have their works follow them into the earth come judgment day.

Keeping our faith in Him is our wedding garment.

Matthew 22:11And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: 12And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. 13Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 14For many are called, but few are chosen.

As He will lose nothing, He will finish the work in those left behind also.

2 Timothy 2:19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. The vessels to dishonour are the ones left behind for following a stranger's voice and not His voice, but His promise is this for those left behind.

John 10: 4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. ..........14I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.


Rest assured, all those that put their trust in the Lord to do His work, shall not be put to shame. Are we keeping the faith in Him and all his promises to us to the point that we are resting in Jesus Christ, or has something taken our eyes off of Him? Are we serving the Lord Jesus Christ or something else in His name? Even I need His help to serve Him and to trust Him to have me ready and resting in Him. Amen.

this is one of the most manipulative teaching in the world today. the baptists church came out with it some years ago. they claim that your sins are forgiven past, present and future. this howevefr is not found in the word of god. rather the word of god claims

1. god is not mocked. galations 6:7

2. why would we need an advocate to the father if we do sin? john 2:1

3. david repented many times through out his life. old testimant.

the danger in this teaching is it gives people a reason to live in sin and feel comfortable in their sin. thus killing the relationship between man and god.
 
Once Saved, Always Saved – The Biblical Evidence
The Bible teaches “once saved, always saved” -- that we can be saved once and for all only through a repentant, saving faith in Jesus Christ. Once a person has accepted Christ as Savior, they may wonder if it is possible to lose that salvation. What if they commit a sin? What if they commit a lot of sins? What if they do something very, very wrong? Is it possible to be saved, and then lose that salvation? Fortunately, the answer is a resounding “no.” Once a person has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, he/she is forever saved. This fact is referred to as the doctrine of “eternal security,” often summarized as “once saved, always saved.”

There are several reasons why a person can be confident in their “eternal security.” First and foremost is the evidence of Scripture. Look at John chapter 3 verses 15-18 says about Christ: “The Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.”

Salvation in Christ is eternal [forever, everlasting], it is not temporary.


If one dies as an athesist then he is an athesist, he is not nor never was a Christian.

John 10: Jesus says: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one." The forgiveness of God through Christ is sufficient to cover all of our sins -- past, present, and future. There is nothing a person can do that God cannot forgive.

Romans 8:38-39 Ephesians 4:30 Jude 24, just to name a few.

Ok, read them. As Christian we are still sinners [myself included]. We sin everyday of our lives, and therefore we must constantly repent of our sins

God made with us a new covenant in the New Testament, by which we are to live today, as is plainly stated in

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

There is no other scripture in the bible that contradicts this verse. No where in the Bible does God's word contradict itself.
 
hebrews 10:25-26 or does this one not count because it directly states that if we willfully sin we are in trouble.
 
God is married to the backslidder!

I have to believe once you are saved you are because I have seen God do amazing things even with backsliders!Such as death bed conversions and even my own husband he got back on his deathbed but I had to go back to my husband and pray for his salvation and fast for 1/1.2yrs as he was in a hindu cult but he was saved when he was 15yrs old!!And for that long 1/1.2 yrs. I ate only one meal a day and prayed constantly!!But God knew his heart and he still took him home in a very supernatural way,everything came about in fact writing a book about it as the Lord told me to!God wishes that not one perish!My pastor says God is married to the back slidder and I believe that as I have seen it in so many ways!!Another woman I heard her husband died before he was saved and the Lord told her to go back to the hospital and ask how many times he was resesitated and died and they said three times!And the Lord told her once he showed him hell,second heaven,and third he took him home!So he is a faithful God!!We cannot know or understand his ways but he loves us so and gives us much more grace than we could ever imagine!He looks upon the heart!Well,so many more miracle testimonies but going to end it hear!!Thank you!God bless!
 
do you have any scripture to back up your claim sister. now do not take this wrong, i am not saying that god did not save your husband.

but you are claiming that people can come to god and then slap him in his face and keep doing that by being comfortable in their sin.
 
I believe that the phrase "once saved, always saved" is mostly true. It doesn't matter what sin you commit, you are still a part of God's family...with the exception of the unforgivable sin, which is blasphamy of the Holy Spirit. So basically if you deny the power of God with your whole heart, then you've kinda broken the whole idea of Salvation and forgiveness. I also believe that you are not just a Christian because of what you say with your mouth, so God will judge your heart to see if you are a true believer. It is not ours to judge, but to be a light to everyone...even fellow brothers and sisters.
 
If we are look at scripture as a whole how can the conclusion be drawn that one particular verse contradicts the other?

A true Christian will never willfully sin.

All I can say is do not forsake grace, and try to use your own "righteousness" or "works" to get to heaven because it will never be enough. If you think your righteousness is pretty good think again "for man's righteousness is like filthy rags to the LORD". And if you think you use purely grace, and do not try to do good, it is not the heart of a christian who wants to please the Lord. Nobody is perfect, but God knows your heart.
