That's the kind of thing I had in mind with my original post. What's the biblical basis (is there any) for concern about global institutions? I am asking specifically about a biblical grounding. We might have objections to the EU, UN and any number of other organisations for practical and political reasons, but let's leave those to one side for the purposes of this thread.

I don't believe that there will be a one world government as such because there is to be the final war of armagedon and you can't have a war if there is only one government. But there will have to be world wide institutions such as banks to bring the mark of the beast into play and banks and financial institutions, although not necessarily attached to any specific country have influence over them all. There is a Biblical grounding for the final war, and there is a biblica grounding for the mark, and the persecution of believers. I believe the are biblical grounds to believe that the final war will be fought against Israel and according to prophesies I have heard, it seems that the nations in the world at that time will choose their sides. My understandings of this come partly from scripture and partly from reasoning and my reasoning could well be suspect, but it does give us something to debate.
