What scripture(s) are you using to proof your assumptions? That's not the case with the Corinthians, not all had that gift of tongues, they faked it and Paul corrected them in good fashion.

Lentz, reconsider your decision for a moment. I would hate to see you leave.
I know what you're going through, it burned in my gut like a furnace for years.
With the help of the Lord I got a handle on it, though I haven't yet perfected it.
You can do the same! Just give it some thought before it becomes final, Brother.
Sorry Brother, but I cannot tolerate blasphemous stupid people. It’s not just the tongue nonsense. It’s demons in little spaceships, idiots who think they are one of the two witnesses, nuts who claim to ride in chariots with God,claims to be a prophet that goes to heaven on a daily basis, out of body experiences.
This site is too blasphemous and weird for me.
You have my email, keep in touch

1Co 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is barren.
1Co 14:15 How then does the matter stand? I will pray in spirit, and I will pray with my understanding also. I will praise God in spirit, and I will praise Him with my understanding also.
Has prayer been done away?
The Bible never contradicts itself as you must consider all scripture to get to the truth.I know the Pentecostals, Church of God, Foursquare, the Charismatic Movement in general, will tell you everyone should be praying in tongues.
That is simply not true, they are taking the Scripture out of context.
Look at this, Curtis, take a good look at what I'm showing you!
Rom. 8:26-27
"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
Curtis, it's not the groaning (language of the person), It's the groaning of the Spirit to God the Father for us.
They will tell you it's your prayer language when it's actually the Holy Spirit that is groaning and making the intercession for the believer.

1Co 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. (KJV)
1Co 14:14 For if I pray in an [unknown] tongue, my spirit [by the Holy Spirit within me] prays, but my mind is unproductive [it bears no fruit and helps nobody]. (AMP)
There is NO way the Holy Spirit is going to pray without you being a participant. This is why the Holy Spirit is called our "helper"
All unknown tongues is done with our spirit by the Holy Spirit.
It's a Biblical fact that Paul and many others prayed in tongues.
But not all have been given the gift of tongues, Curtis.
I have not been given the gift of tongues. I have never once spoken in any manner other than English.
There were many in the time of Paul who never received the gift of tongues.
The gift of tongues (as I have pointed out in other posts) was not meant for everyone.
I strongly disagree. The baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues is for everyone who believes. It's a Biblical fact that Paul and many others prayed in tongues.

If the Holy Spirit “helps” us that never means he doing it on his own. All prayer in the Spirit will always be my spirit praying being “helped” by the Holy Spirit.27

You have already asked me that same question and I answered it in post #83Answer the questions honestly Curtis. Paul didn't give the answers, it's obvious.
Set your denominational pride aside for a moment and be honest before God.
I do not belong to any denomination.Set your denominational pride aside for a moment and

I see you did, good! So if speaking in tongues through the filling of the Spirit is for everyone, why is it that only the Charismatics have it?
Are you Charismatics superior to the rest of us, maybe favored by God? I once prayed with a true heart for it but He didn't give it to me.
Then I found the lie they were telling, it's not for everyone as they claim.
That's fine! If you speak in tongues and believe the "baptism of the Holy Spirit is for everyone, you're considered a Charismatic whether you like it or not.
