Speaking ill to others

@Lanolin @JesusIs4Me

You've been warned more than once by Brother Br.
Yet continue the exchange.
Just stay on point of the thread or move on.
Leave well enough alone. No more warnings!

Also, I do not require you to acknowledge this posting either.

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. Titus 3:2

We have a tendency to move from what is clearly a disagreement on some subject, and move directly into making it a personality/character issue. We become the brawlers spoken of in Titus. Instead of turning it over to God and allow Him to handle it (Romans 12:19). It's riles us up and we feel the need to go on the attack. Instead of sharpening the iron, we wind up abusing a loved one with it.

I'm hardly excluding myself here! Not perfect.....yet! :-)

So, Brother Dave, this is a good subject to discuss, for all need to look in the mirror, or the pages of their words and ask "Could I have done, or said this differently?", "That didn't cause such pain, but still make the point the Spirit of God wants me to make?". Not avoiding pain totally, but unnecessarily adding to it!

For me it truly requires a greater focus. This focus is, "How much do I love that person." Not the type of love that accepts sin. Humanity is all for that. It's how do we stay on point in a disagreement while still recognizing that pain, and hurt can easily prevent us from showing/giving/reflecting the very Love our Lord wants us to have for each other. Looking to the Love we have for them, rather then the point of contention is what shines through during these communications.

There have been times I have noticed here at Talk Jesus, where two will be into a serious discussion on some contentious topic, and abruptly both recognize the futility of continuing it. Communicate their Brotherhood in Christ, shake, and then move on with a ;) and :-) My heart just sings when I see this!!! The one time I truly wish I could reach through the monitor and hug those folks!!!!

Some might only see that the topic was unresolved!!! Still, if each ones position has been fully explained and neither comes to an agreement. Isn't it better to part in peace, then to let it get to the point where one or both wind up "speaking ill of one another"?

Thanks, brother for allowing my ramblings! Believe it or not. This was many more pages, but in each review I left more off :-) Plus, my wife, just came in and with a mock seriousness said "Are you still working on that post?" LOL

So, I leave this last with you with words I try to end with all my postings.

With the Love of Christ Jesus Brother Dave!

P.S.

Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence [am] base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 Corinthians 10:1

This particular chapter one would hardly imagine actually speaks amongst other things, is warfare and authority!!!!

Nick you have a very good talent for writing one that I do not share. My writing skill is terrible, I have found myself in the position of arguing and not caring at all of the other person many times that is what led me to this post. Sometime I think theology gets in the way of LOVE. You are a great leader here on talk Jesus and a fine example. I just hope my eyes are always open enough to see when arguing is not going anywhere and hope my obedience is strong enough to just stop. Because this is one way the devil uses to divide brothers and sisters in Christ is what I believe.

@Dave M
I liked your post not for what it has to say concerning me, because I give all the Glory to God! It's because you are right on point, in saying that this is one of the ways that the Adversary uses to divide us against each other. When even in having differing doctrinal points. We should be able to leave the discussion knowing the overriding "LOVE" that we have for each other.

Don't sell yourself short brother in your writings. You do well communicating what God has laid upon your Spirit to say and that is best one can say. Whether with many or few words.

With the Love of Christ Jesus Brother Dave.

Do you ever notice on here how, sometimes, when one person writes on a subject that it turns out that someone else did, too, on the same day, without being aware of the other one? I find that God often works that way, i.e. that he lays the same subject on the hearts of several of his children at the same time, so that there is agreement in the body of Christ, though, perhaps, not perfect agreement.

Anyway, I noticed your post just as I was getting ready to post the devotional the Lord gave me today, and lo and behold, it was on the same subject matter. And, all I know is that God works that way, so that there will be unity among us.

Do You Agree?
