What if you die tonight?

Greetings,

Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Bless you ....><>

I think most of us had at least some kind of fear of death. In my two tours of Vietnam, what took the greatest toll, upon my mind was indeed death! I wasn't even close to being a believer back then!! On our team we had a very outspoken believer,he was a sniper as well, and would speak to some of us who would listen, about his confidence in Christ Jesus. As much as we disliked this guy we did hang close to him,as it did not seem as if any bullet could touch him!

He should have at least been wounded countless time!! With 120 days left, our team got trapped by enemy gunfire along the perfume river, near Saigon, and he got hit,as he lay in my arms,he looked up and me and smiled, and said, remember something Schmidt,Jesus Christ gave his life for you,and if you are good enough for Jesus man, you are good enough for me,and he perished.

This haunted me until I received Jesus in my own life,in a mop closet in College! I did not understand how he could not fear death, upon his bunk when we got back laid this scripture!( Acts 20:24) which says" But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself,so that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus,to testify solemnly of the Gospel of the GRACE of God!" I understand this now brothers and sisters, and so do many of you!! It is how, and why I can always stay thankful to all my brothers and sisters here! May this scripture teach you knowing the truth, and always keeping you free through our Jesus amen!
Brother !
I ask your permission to share this.
I will change nothing of what you have written unless you desire it so.
This testimony is so very worth sharing.

As you well know Christ4Ever, many things happen to us we do not understand, until The Lord himself revels this to us( example Peter matt 16:13-17) I of course did not become a believer after this incident, but I could not get it out of my mind until Jesus either! So great is God's love for me?? INDEED!! and YOU TO!! I was thankful to be able to share much of this to our Veterans inside Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan near where i live. I know love is the greatest! I also know HOPE is the second greatest at least to me!! ( rom 15:13) For when times get tough for us,and they surly will,to become established in Christ hope, rather then ours,is our assurance through HIM we can never stumble!!( jude 1:21-25!!!) I am thankful Holy Spirit ministered to you Christ4Ever!

I thought I was done, but was led to look upon your profile brother Christ4ever and noticed you to have served our Country, thanks so much for that as well! If i may brother use my faith a tad in Jesus.Upon around my tenth year in the Lord I prayed very hard upon this question to the Lord, and asked him if he would answer me.The question. Lord I have no doubt whatsoever that you love me,you have proved true not only to your Word, but to your very nature as well! Here is my concern. How do I truly know, that YOU KNOW I love you?? I make so many mistakes everyday Jesus as you well know,it sometimes is very hard from my actions, for me to believe, that you believe and know I love you! For 32 years brother!!

I thanked my Jesus for this answer without having this answer! A few months ago, Holy Spirit awakened me,with a scripture that was a large billboard sign in my mind!! PROVERBS 8:17!! It was so BIG bro!!! LOL Took up every part of the space in my mind!! I ran to get my Bible, and I leaped with such great joy brother!! It says "I LOVE those who love me.AND THOSE who DILIGENTLY SEEK ME WILL FIND ME!!! He knows brother he knows!! Blessing to you!

If I die tonight then that's that. I'm not afraid of death and accepted it years ago. I'm going to die someday and I know it's necessary. I finished college so I could die happy.

I have to admit. I'm still quite a bit shaky when it comes to death and dying. Not only the process, but what comes after. Just being totally honest.

I think I have the same fear..... I do believe that God loves me .....but I don't know if He knows I love Him ..perhaps because I feel like my love is tainted and selfish at times. In fact, sometimes I wonder if He would one day turn me aside and say "I never knew you".

Then, I usually settle back in and say that my heart is as true as it can be...He continues to change me.... I hope He knows me.

Think I shall have a prayer/question to God as well. AND be thankful for the answer that He will eventually give. Thanks Brighthouse.

When a nonbeliever hears those words "What if you die tonight" they get fear. It may not be a fear they are aware of but it's a topic that most feel uncomfortable discussing. Try "Do you want to live forever" or "Do you want to become one of the richest men in the universe"

I agree up to a point. :-)
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

Allow the Holy Spirit to move you as you begin communication with a nonbeliever. Each of us began by being drawn by the Holy Spirit. The drawing could have been done through a preacher, evangelist, reading of His Word, or just the hardness/wonder of life, a friend, neighbor, and the list goes on and on. Though the list can be endless, it was by Him in each instance that we have come to know Jesus Christ as our Savior. We have all been there in that darkness and should desire that other person to know of His Great Love and what He has done for you/them! If fear of death can motivate them to listen, then awesome, but if the Holy Spirit moves you to speak otherwise. Then do so.

Oh, by the way....welcome to Talk Jesus Brother! :-)

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

What verifiable evidence is there that any afterlife exists and that when we die we move on instead of staying dead, which I believe to be the most likely outcome?

Its actually quite simple. It's based on trusting God to His word. Faith. Plus, the abundant evidence and ways He reveals Himself to humanity, in addition to becoming a man in the person of Jesus Christ.

But I don't think the Biblical god is credible or very pleasant. As for Jesus, he probably existed but is not as portrayed in the Bible, imo.

You don't know Jesus. You're basing off your "honest opinion". This is not about opinions. This is about knowing who Jesus really is. The facts. The truth, not opinions or personal beliefs. GOD is real and His attributes are important to understand. Our opinions of GOD doesn't determine who He is and doesn't change who He is.

That is your opinion, but you have no verifiable evidence to support it!

Yes I do, but you're continuing ignorance is blinding you and you refuse to see it. You clearly did not bother viewing the links at all. Just airing your opinion.

Winning others to Christ requires presenting the gospel to lost people without needlessly offending them.

Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
(1 Corinthians 9:19-23 NIV)

I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.

A slave does not view himself as being over others, but rather as being under them to serve. He doesn’t think of himself first, but of those he serves. The message of the cross is often offensive to proud sinners, but we should not be personally offensive in neutral matters.

When I was in Basic Training before I became a follower of God through Christ Jesus. There was a private who prayed every night beside his bunk before bed. One day one Drill Sergeant who thought the message of the Gospel was foolish threw his muddy boots at the private hitting him in the head, the private kept on praying. The next day the Drill Sergeant found his boots by the Sergeants office door polished to perfection. That service of kindness led to the drill sergeant's
salvation. He latter
reached out to other privates he trained.

If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you, to some extent--not to put it too severely. The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him. Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him.
(2 Corinthians 2:5-8 NIV)

When we begin a conversation, the person starts listening, but then we do or say something, usually unwittingly, that sends the wrong signal to the person’s radar. It’s a common dynamic. We are perceived as dangerous, and the person dives below the surface of communication, effectively insulated from really hearing what we are saying. The person is no longer actively listening.

"Do you know where you are going to go when you die?" That question is from the Old Testament heart.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?
(2 Corinthians 2:14-16 NIV)

He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
(2 Corinthians 3:6 NIV)

If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
(2 Corinthians 3:9-11 NIV)

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
(2 Corinthians 3:17-18 NIV)

When I was a Christian as a kid I prayed sincerely for Jesus to give me some sign he existed, he didn't bother. I came to the conclusion he died 2000 years ago.

Luke 11:29 When the crowds were increasing, he began to say, "This generation is an evil generation. It seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.
Luke 11:30 For as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.

Christians do NOT have "wishful" thinking, or just hoping maybe Jesus is real, they have "evidence" and proof as to why we believe. It is called "faith".

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Just because we can not see Jesus with our physical eyes, does not mean we can see him. We can surely see Jesus with the eyes of our spirit, which is more real then any physical evidence can give, because it is eternal.

Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

The Good News is there is no death for the believer Jesus of Nazareth has promised this to each believer! Even though the body(flesh) shall die because of sin the born again believer shall live on forever with the Father, Son and Holy Ghost and everyone else that is in Eternity.

Now those whom are not saved and die they shall as well from what I have read live on as well. Though it appears to be a place of no love, torment and fire. (HELL!) They chose to not receive Gods gracious gift of salvation that he so kindly offered and paid for.

I pray no one, not even the person whom has treated me or you horribly ends up there. I pray everyone would receive Gods, love, grace, mercy and salvation(forgiveness). I believe God is wanting the same. God isn't looking to send people to Hell!

I believing more and more people reject Gods Love and choose Hell. Though God continually tries to reach each person that none may have to perish if so possible.

Think about? What Good, Good Father would want to lose a Son or Daughter they have created?

God Bless,

Troy A Cross
