More responses please.

I decided to put on my to do list a partnership possiblity with one of the great major Christian organizations such as BGEA or so to hand out free copy of the Bible, one per month as a contest.

I'll just need to decide what the contest may be. It may be based on possibilities "chances" or a game of some sort.

Chad:

I primarily use the New King James version.

God bless you, Brother.

You Sister in Christ,
Dr. Bon Vie/"Sylvia"

I use the KJV for prophecy reasons...as i find the word more interesting in old english when it comes to prophecy, and im accustomed to it as well.

Speaking of NKJV, I was thinking about reading that one. Do you all think that version is as close to the original Scripture compared to the others (excluding KJV which is old english as we already know)?

N.I.V.--N.A.S.-The Message(because it's written in quaint English) but gives up to date expression. K.J. because it give other posible cross references. The main book -case bible is Life Application.N.I.V. giving short commentary.
Any one use the web commentaries etc much????

I read Life Application Study Bible (New King James Version)
i found the KJ too hard to understand on its own without footnotes
and the NIV i feel is easyier to read but i have found a happy medium.

i use the new living translation (NLT) life application stidy bible as a study bible but i like the new king james version a lot. i also use a rusian bible, ( which i could barely read, its kinda cuz im russian) its translation is simmilar to the NIV.

I read the New International Version because I can understand what it says. I don't really understand thees and thoust :confused:I wish I could though .

Bible Versions

I was raised on the Revised Standard Version and still use it. I also use NIV. Use of Strong's Concordance leads to brief checking of KJV.

i use the contemporary english version (i think thats what its called) i have a bunch of bibles so i have CEV KJV and NIV.

i use the NLT.. new living translation.. cuz its like MAJORLY eays 2 understand, an its really easy 2 read... tho if u compare it wif a King james, or the Message... its hard 2 follow sometimes.. but still good..

I like the Message from an easy to read style but use NASB and other translations for study and work.

The Message is great from the point of view that it is easy to read and I have started to read the Gospels each month in an effort to get to know Jesus better - highly recommend it! But I always will verify thoughts with other translations including online resources.

I use New King James Version (which was a present) but I still have my fisrt Bible - Standard Version - and I still use it because it is easier to understan than the NKJV but the NKJV is more for people like my dad who wants the correct words and stuff like that.
God bless

actually i could not post which translation I read because it only allowed me to choose one. normally for study purpose I use 3 translation and compare them. I like the KJV because my stongs concordance is geared to KJV. I also like to compare the KJV with my NKJV amd the NIV. i ocasinally borrow my wife's NASB,

I use Vietnamese version :D and I use NIV to compare the two and make sure I understand very thing. So far both of them are very close to each other.

KJV is my main bible. Always seems something is missing in other English bibles. Textus Receptus is my Greek NT choice, and the Mesoretic Text is my Hebrew OT, actualy a synagogue pew bible. ...DGB

I use the NIV, it was the first version I was introduced to and I found it easy to understand , and I use NIV concordance. But recently I bought a KJV to help with studies and see the difference in translation, and I kinda liketh it, and hopeth that ye haveth a sense of humoreth. I will use both versions to help in my Christian walk.

Ye maketh me laugheth, thou should stoppeth before I hurteth myself.

I mostly read NIV because i find it clear and easy to understand. and then i also read portions of The Message.

lol, Heather, I agree! I just got a new large-print bible and I chose Holman Christian Standard. It's smooth and readable, and it reads the way we talk today without taking away any meanings. Prior to Holman, I have always favored NIV. I still like NIV very much and can't decide between it and Holman.

I participate in a jail ministry and we always try to get the inmates NIV bibles.
