On the infant baptism practice of the Catholic Church: They believe, as I recall, that baptism is not an outward sign of inward conversion to belief in Jesus, the first step on the path to salvation.to relationship with Christ, but, rather, it is a rite of initiation into the Catholic Church and thus to Jesus, along with the Catholic subtle emphasis on works.

At a Catholic baptism, the parents stand with the infant and ceremonially accept the task of raising the child according to the teachings of the church.

Also present at and taking part in the ceremony are a second man and woman, known as the Godparents (Godmother and Godfather) of the child. These people are supposed to step in and assume the parental responsibility of raising the child in the church should the birth parents die or fail in their duties.

As an ex-Catholic, I must say that I doubt very much that many Catholics in the USA in the 21st century truly understand what's involved in Catholic baptism nor do they really care. Its just a fancy ceremony initiating the baby into the fold followed by a family get-together. That's all it was when I was growing up.

This is the same as the Church of England/anglican churches. I was Christened/baptised as a baby and my children too as I was not saved at that time and knew no different.

The Churches I have attended since I gave my heart to Jesus carry out a dedication service for babies until they are old enough to make their own decision they are dedicated to the Church.

God bless

I can only imagine that Mary the mother of Jesus weeps because of this. I know I do.

What greater evil could the devil do to man, than to rape away the innocent purity of this good woman, and set up our dear Lord Christ's own human mother as a figure of idolatry by which men and women are led away from God? This is but one area where the traditions of Catholicism have been perverted by darkness.

Why would anyone willingly perpetuate such a thing? Lay it aside, let it go. Come away from the Church and into the arms of the Lord God.

Do not let a prideful need to cling to human traditions destroy your chance to learn how God wants you to know Him.

In the garden of Eden (Gen. 3) satan frist tempted the woman Eve. He did not first tempt man. Seems satan has a preference for the "weaker" sex as he now is appearing as Mary. It is more likely that this Mary image, produced by satan, will allure more woman than men. In reality women would rather talk to women about their most personal problems. Jesus being man, I imagine it's more comforting for these women (who believe Mary is the real thing) to pray to a woman and not directly to a man, Jesus.

Am I just crazy in my thinking or am I hitting on something? Satan knows his approach is a successful one which led to the fall of man. So he'll use it again.

I think that thinking about Eve and Mary both together can be a fruitful Bible study.

For example, look at Eve in Genesis 3:1-6: Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

As we all know all too well, Eve gave in to the serpent's temptations to eat the fruit (so to disobey God), to think she and Adam would be as gods (no chance, they were and always would be God's creatures), to "know good and evil" (and boy howdy did she ever learn about both in the time to come, to her sorrow!) and that she "would not surely die" (and of course she and Adam and everyone descended from them certainly would die).

So the serpent tempted Eve, she disobeyed God and in her turn, tempted Adam to eat of the fruit, and he also disobeyed God.

Now look at Mary, in Luke 1:38:

38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.

It wasn't going to be easy for Mary to obey God and become the mother of His only-begotten Son, but she obeyed. Even to standing beneath His Cross with His precious blood dropping down on her, hearing His last anguished words...
But she beheld His resurrection!

So which one obeyed and which one disobeyed? Do we obey when God offers us something or do we say, "No, thank you, I have bigger and better plans for my life...."

I think if you compare Eve and Mary throughout the Bible, you will see that those who obey God, though their lives be hard and they have much suffering, still stay in God's presence and He is with them always, for Jesus promised:

John 15:26: But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

We've been with Him from the beginning of the time when He came into our hearts. Let's beg Him for the grace never even to entertain the idea of disobedience, for we know what He has done for us while we were yet sinners!

Sister Mouse, honestly I don't think this has anything to do with being male or female. The devil is the deceiver and that is what he does, deceive all. He does not choose one over the other. To think that he chooses to deceive women more and over men is almost like saying GOD made women less intelligent than men. We all know that men and women were created equally in the image and likeness of GOD. Therefore, we are not any better than the other.

hey chad please do not take this wrong but i think that mouse maybe onto something here. in the beginning in the garden of eden the serpent went to the female and she was deceived by him correct and then the woman went to the man with the fruit and offered to him and he ate to please her.

today there is still alot of this going on in the world. women are deceived and then they go and deceive there men. not to say that women are less intelligent then men are or anything of that nature but we also see this same behavior throughout the word of god.

I was merely respecting women's intelligence and GOD's creation.

I sit back now and let the godly women here speak for themselves :)

I play safe I tell you lol.

Okay guys don't be mad, but yes history have shown us to be a bit.......well.

Precious Eve did not know how to stand her ground, so being the curious and noisy type she took the fruit.

Now here we have handsome Adam, strong and love the Lord, yet he allowed precious little eve to influence him.

Now who is weak.

He could of ask God for a divorce but he went along.

Seems satan has a preference for the "weaker" sex

I disagree with this statement, the Devil cares nothing about sex, if he did we would of had " Adolfina" instead of Adolf Hitler.

It's not the sex but the heart, if it's corrupted he will use it.

Yes the Bible talks about the wayward woman
Proverbs 6:24, Proverbs 7:5,
Proverbs 23:27
for a prostitute is a deep pit and a wayward wife is a narrow well.

I would say women can have influence over men, look at Samson.

We are one body in Christ, created in his image.
Ephesians 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ

lol, no
not a blonde,,

Yes, the devil is the deceiver no matter who we are! By grace we are saved from falling into the devil's trap. Hallelujah, since Jesus came to earth and became man for our sakes, to die for our sins and rise from the dead triumphant, we all have another chance to follow His will!

God's blessings to everyone,

Mary Emily

Women cannnot be the weaker sex as God took a rib from adam to make wo-men so therefore they are equal. We are indeed made in the image of God all of us.

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3.23

not triing to slam women in any way but they are to be under the leadership of men and they are much easlier deceived than men are. like i said i am not triing to put women down in anyway. only speaking truth.

Jesus saves.

My,My My, we meet again ushalk.

Grace and Peace to you
I stand by the truth " Sex doesn't matter "

Women sometimes make decisions off emotions and can to be deceived.
But I ask the question who is the deceiver, wasn't it Men(rulers of Philistine) that asked Delilah to betray her beloved.

The devil does not discriminate, he's a liar. If he can deceive Angels that have seen the Glory of God he can deceive anyone.

Revelation 12:9
9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Weaker Sex ?
Romans 8
Life Through the Spirit
1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

Amen

How would you know as you are a man and not a woman. Men can be easily deceived too. None are perfect this side of heaven.

The truth is we have to follow Jesus and be led by the Holy Spirit.

Here is one example of man being deceived.
Genesis 29.22

22 So Laban brought together all the people of the place and gave a feast. 23 But when evening came, he took his daughter Leah and gave her to Jacob, and Jacob lay with her. 24 And Laban gave his servant girl Zilpah to his daughter as her maidservant.

25 When morning came, there was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, "What is this you have done to me? I served you for Rachel, didn't I? Why have you deceived me?"

Galatians 6.7

7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature[a]will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

God bless

No comment, except to thank LadylovesJesus and rizen1 for their gracious replies to Ushalk. My hugs and prayers go out to you both.

I agree with the ladies here. Nothing in Scripture says women are more deceived then men. This is unscriptural.

All have fallen short the glory of GOD
All are tempted by the devil, the deceiver and "father of lies" as Jesus put it

wow ya all, rizen we need to quit meeting like this lol. i am not saying that the devil only goes after women he goes after both sexes yes that is true. i was simply saying that women are more easily deceived than men are. it was not a slam or me not liking women. it is the truth especially when women make decisions from emotions.
