Christianity VS. Jesus

Commenting on the original post related to theology and Jesus, or Christianity vs Christ.

Not necessarily refuting anyone's specific post, but just sharing; so if anyone feels attacked by this post, take a deep breath as you process your response, as that is not my intention.

With these two topics, I don't think a hard separation should be made. Yes these two things are different; however the connection between the two are stronger than most realize.

I think about the Great Commission
" Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” "
Matthew 28:19-21

When Jesus speaks of "teaching" in the verse above, my understanding is that this "teaching" can be seen as theology. I believe that Jesus taught His disciples about many topics such as baptism, the resurrection, etc, etc, and we see that Jesus clearly told the disciples to "teach" everything that He taught them. Everything is the word used.

Obviously sometimes people can focus too much on the teaching and neglect the relationship, but that should not discourage those who love Jesus from learning from Him.

I also think about when Jesus said " "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. " Matthew 11:28-29

When Jesus says "learn" of me, my understanding is that we learn of Jesus by learning about the things He taught (Theology).

I think focusing only the relationship with Jesus but ignoring His teachings(theology) leads to solo Christians(often nondenominational) who may have passion but lack truth and are often misguided. And focusing too much on the teachings(Theology) without the relationship can lead to Christians that are legalistic and Pharisee-like in nature.

Both are important, the relationship with Jesus and the teachings(theology) of Jesus. Though the two are different and can be distinguished I don't think it is beneficial to do a hard separation of the two.

Remember the Bible says you shall know the truth and the truth shall make/set you free. I believe that this truth is both in the theology of God and the relationship with Jesus.

Jesus' teaching is absolute truth. It is not theology. Theology is just the human attempt to explain the Word of God.

All mental health issues are demonic.

I am laughing at your ignorance. You have no idea what is demonic and what is not.

Besides, If I do not take my medication, they force it on me. Even though I do not agree with that, but it is the law. They have already done it to me. Look back my first post when I came to this site. You do not know anything about my condition/disorder. My current medication came from a court here in the US, after brief jail time, and observation in psychiatric hospital for very very long months. I stop this medication, I could die, or go back to jail and the psychiatric hospital, period. You are not silly or funny anymore. You are a terrorist who threatens people by hell if they take their medication.

I was responding to SheepLinda's comments to me. And some to you, also.

Sometimes people posting comments can get rude / even somewhat malicious at times. Which is quite sad. Sometimes Scripture gets hurled around as if 'they' were the authors.

Hi, I've been reading the progression of this thread with interest and am not wanting to hijack the topic, but I felt convicted by what @SheepMary said about drugs.

It brought to mind that there is information now published debunking the theory that psych drugs treat chemical imbalances.

The psychiatrist Joanna Moncrieff has published a book and I quote from the review "she demonstrates that psychiatric drugs do not 'treat' or 'cure' mental illness by acting on hypothesized chemical imbalances or other abnormalities in the brain."

I do remember some of how she explained their action but essentially its also been shown they can be very difficult to withdraw from. There are at least several forums on the internet dedicated to providing online support for drug withdrawal from prescription drug dependency which also further show that it can be dangerous to suddenly stop psych meds. Once on them, the CNS adjusts and so getting off them can be difficult and some people dont manage it or fare better with them.

I do know though two people who were totally healed by God of mental illness and no longer have to take medication, and heard of another.

The promises in the bible for health come to mind....

Proverbs 4:20-22

Healing Words
20 Listen carefully, my dear child, to everything that I teach you,
and pay attention to all that I have to say.
21 Fill your thoughts with my words
until they penetrate deep into your spirit.
22 Then, as you unwrap my words,
they will impart true life and radiant health
into the very core of your being. (TPT)

and

Exodus 15:26

New Living Translation

He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.”

But I'm not meaning to take this thread off topic from the OP. My purpose was to aim to show that whether in this life there is healing or with our new bodies in eternity trusting in Jesus is best, listening carefully and following him (which I realise I need to do more of!).

All of them come with side effects, but they do work for a lot of people. They do not cure any disorder, but if I take them, I can work, speak to you, and go to church. I do not do well without my meds, I am lucky to be alive today, because they actually saved me, before I tried to end my life. I have no idea why people claim they are Christians, but want you to die. This person told me before to kill myself is much better. Now he claims all mental health disorders are demonic. Where is the biblical evidence for his claims?

This is why I think Psychedelics are good alternative but even with using Psychedelics, I can NEVER stop taking a medication that came from a court order without my doctor's approval.

I have seen it. His/her comments aimed at many members here and how he/she tells people they are not saved every time just, because they do not agree . Also, he/she seems to be a Jehovah witness. They are against meds and blood transfusion. That is a cult member.

There are no easy answers And lots of situations that 'we' would like to have solved in an easy way.

There are those who are So against alcohol that they won't take cough medications because of the alcohol content .

And there are those who's bodies reject anything that is put into it other than food. And there are those who'd say Good -- because nothing but nutricious food Should be put in.

Seems to be easier to judge others without knowing their situation Rather than taking time To know them. And at times -- teens do that -- they simply want to know that someone cares enough To say something.

He is a nasty & evil person with no morals, or dignity what so ever. He does not know my condition. I hear voices and can see things that are not there under stress. I sometimes can know I am hearing things are not there because I learned a lot about what I have. Even doctors made a mistake and thought this was a schizophrenia. This person said I have demons, kept calling me a demonic possessed person. What is he doing is actually criminal content in some cases. I prayed that God will deal with him and rebuke him in Jesus name. I am angry and hurt. Shame on him to add to someone's wounds.
