This is a true conundrum. And one of the contradictions in the bible that also troubles me. As there are many such as it was totally ok to make war on others in the old testament but not in the new.... All I can think is that some things in the bible have been altered to make it look silly.... And to test our Faith. God's existence is true.

The wrath of God can be seen also as a correction ( discipline ) or rebuke by Him in our lifes. And this mostly goes for those who are sons of God. That's why is having to do with His love. The love that wants to prevent us from falling apart or going astray where we can really get hurt. So He wants to warn us. Many times we don't know the purpose of certain correction, but He does very well. He knows where our path may lead us and He wants to prevent us from wrong and show us the right one. There are many verses in the book of Proverbs talking about the right path and chastening, but I'll leave you this one in Hebrews 12:5-11
"And you have forgotten the exportation which speaks to you as to sons: My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives." So we see that this chastening is mainly for the sons, because He loves them with a special love. They belong to Him. Obviously He loves every other person aswell, but they wouldn't understand His love and chastening. On the other side aswell He doesn't want people to follow Him just because of His wrath, but because they have chosen so, because of His love. That's why if He corrects our lifes is mainly with the purpose to show us His love. This applies to His sons but it can be toward other people too, if He Has a special purpose for them. He knows the pain our path can lead us to, that's why He prefers to rebuke us, that is painful too, but just for a moment. His love points at the eternity, meaning He gives much more value to eternity than us. We instead give more value to the temporary things. He wants to give us eternal life and peace. How much more is this than what is temporary. That's why we need to endure trough the hardship and accept the correction.

I understand what are you saying here. That the wrath of God was satisfied trough the sacrifice of His Son. And that's something so important and fondamentale. Without that me and you wouldn't be standing and speaking on this topic right now. But look at this verse here an see my point : " For the time has come for judgement to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? " 1 Peter 4:17
It might sound a bit harsh, but to me the word judgement here is having to do with that wrath aswell. And it applies to believers only. Meaning that we are going to experience judgement here on this life to escape it from the future. Or better said we are going to be judged, corrected here and the ungodly ( those who do not believe ) there in the judgement day, after this life. The judgement for those who have believed will be different. Yes the sacrifice of Christ saved them from the wrath to come, but they still gonna be judged here and rebuked so that they can appear as gold being purified. It is a process that we go through while here on earth. And all of this is for His glory. We experience when God disagrees with something or when He is not happy with us or even angry. " Your wrath lies heavy upon me, and You have afflicted me with all your waves. " Psalm 88:7 ( like this there are other verses aswell. ) And He is still a loving father. So loving that He doesn't want us to perish and even corrects us for that purpose.
And this can be only experienced by a man of God. While the wrath of God remains on those who haven't believe in the son - yes, but for the life to come, for judgement there. And we have the privilege for us to happen now. That's why aswell many people don't experience His wrath now. They do whatever and nothing happens. And that's why they think they can do whatever. But they are wrong. One day will come when they will experience that. That's why man is not suppose to look for revenge now, because the Lord will do that one day. Everyone will face Him. But many times we want things to happen now. Justice and everything. Because we lack patience and faith aswell. Jesus came with forgiveness and everyone needs to follow that, but one day there will be wrath. Better to be able to accept it now and if something is wrong in us to let God do his work.

I know that 'God's wrath has to be satisfied' is widely taught, but I don't know of anywhere in the Bible that actually teaches this.

You're going to have to draw out the implications for me. You've quoted a passage that's about the Lord's servant, not the wrath of God.

Yes, I understand. Maybe my answer wasn't in line with what this thread is meant to be, but it was just what I felt to say. And I didn't mean it for condemnation. I read what you posted on the other thread and I agree with it. And what I meant anyway was that the correction or discipline is Father's work of love in our lifes.
