Amen God is not served by the corrupted hands of dying mankind . If he was then Paul and Barnabas would be a drop in the bucket for legion of the Greek gods coming down in the likeness of men , And therefore not the likeness of our invisible God who works in those who do believe his understanding .
Are you corrupted? Are you dying? I have been redeemed, sanctified, washed by the blood. Death ahas no power over me.
There are Spiritual gifts (unseen,) yes. But sign gifts (what the eyes see the temporal to wonder after?) I would think believers have no need to wonder or marvel .
It isn't about signs or marveling most of the time. It's about the power of God.
Mark 16:15; And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Mark 16:16; "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.
Mark 16:17; "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;
Mark 16:18; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
"these signs" (will accompany) those who have believed in my name. If these things aren't accompanying you now, maybe you should check your belief.
Can people cast out demons by their own power? No, only thorough the power of God. Have you ever cast out a demon? (Yes, I have)
Have you ever drank poison? Have you ever healed the sick? Have you ever picked up a poisonous snake? Have you ever healed the sick?
In this context these are miraculous things. Certainly people (even non-Christians) can learn new languages (eventually) , certainly doctors (even non-Christians) can (eventually) heal (some) people.
These people weren't multi-lingual, they weren't doctors, (Luke was, but he wasn't an apostle). Casting out demons, not dying when you drink poison, healing to sick by simply laying hands of them.
These are miraculous things, things that non-believers can't do. The tongues spoken of here is equally miraculous, it is isn't something they learned from other men.
1Cor 12:8; For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;
1Cor 12:9; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
1Cor 12:10; and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
1Cor 12:11; But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
Some non-Christains have wisdom and knowledge in a fashion, but not the wisdom and knowledge that comes from God.
Some doctors can heal some people some times, slowly over period of time, with surgery or medicine (drugs). But Christians can miraculously heal.
There are fortune tellers and palm readers, who can seemingly guess the future. - But Christians can prophecy by the power of God.
There are non-believers who can speak foreign tongues hey have learned from men. - But Christians can speak tongues they didn't learn from men.
This is the supernatural, this is the power of God, and it's missing from many who call themselves Christians. Stephen wasn't called an apostle but...
Acts 6:8; And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.
Acts 1:8; but
you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
Rom 15:18; For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed,
Rom 15:19; in
the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and round about as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
1Cor 4:20; For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.
1Thes 1:5; for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but
also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
The Bible talks about people who deny the power.
In the last times, some men will be...
2Tim 3:5; holding to a form of godliness, although
they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
Also I would be very very careful about saying something isn't from the Holy Spirit if it truly is.
Mark 3:28; "Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;
Mark 3:29; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"—
