Psa_115:1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.

Mal_2:2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
Mat_15:31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
Act_3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

Act_3:13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

Yes, indeed...but you said specifically, " Some where I remember reading something about giving God all the glory."

I merely pointed out that what you claim you read, is not in Scripture. "Giving God all the glory" is not found in the Bible.

This mostly comes from...

Isa 42:8; I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

I did not say that Scripture does not tell us to glorify God, I said that the exact phrase..."give God all the glory" is NOT found in Scripture. The phrase...NOT the subject matter under discussion!!!

Reba 1 you are on point. Like i have said most "christians" are dangerous and will lead many astay. And
many christian do not understand the english language and the english syntax and they do not want to know,

What is the full meaning of glory The short definition:

1a : praise, honor, or distinction extended by common consent : renown. b : worshipful praise, honor, and thanksgiving giving glory to God. 2a : something that secures praise or renown the glory of a brilliant career.

And the Biblical word if look up in "ISBE" hard copy the definitions is most like 3 pages long for one word.
etymology is the only way to fly in "biblical truth" "Languages" some are gifted and others are not.

Give GOD the Honor all you want Give Him the Praise all you want , Recognize HIM however you want , Not only is HE "GOD" HE is our "FATHER" and you are HIS Child and you walk into HIS Office any time you get ready. And you do not have to be Formal! They must do not know who YOUR FATHER! is!

EVIDENTLY, they don't know HIM!

Yes, indeed...but you said specifically, " Some where I remember reading something about giving God all the glory."

Well then who do we give the glory of God to if not God?

ferpetessake... the Scripters do not tell us to use a computer. . along with a long list of things. You will not fine the phrase "Jesus loves me" in scripture nor heavenly language,. nor will one find a passage that allows women to speak or sing in church. ETC.

Yup you should run for political office the spin is there.

Sure...but you will not find that in Scripture. Just before I answered this, I double checked. Give God glory, yes...but that phrase (nor anything close to it) comes from Scripture. the only one that comes close is this one:

1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

When you pray for someone and heal them by God's power and authority that He has given to you in Christ, in the New Covenant, then what you did does give God the glory, because any sensible person knows that human beings don't have the power to perform such miracles. Just saying!

Blessings!

God's word does tell us to go out into the world with the gospel . With our God given advances in technology going out into the whole world is a valuable tool for obeying the commandment . Today we can let our fingers to the walking by faith .

The scriptures loving command the believer to study rightfully divide the word of God that does work in us to both will and empower the new creatures to perform it . It is the heavenly language .

It as it is written does not inform us that women cannot speak or sing in their new born g again hearts or out loud . We are the temple of God not made with human hands .

When gathering together as a gospel sign of God to the world (not to our own flesh ) as instructed in the new testament ceremonial law (1 Corhtitains 11) That shadow will become sight on the last day when the wedding veil will be lifted and virtue of the bride will be restored that was lost in the garden when Adam refused defend his wife ,

Both aspects of the new ordinance . . head of hair (noncovered )the men in to respect our invisible head Christ the unseen glory of God and the hair covered for the woman both work as one witness of the gospel . Again a sign to the world.

Husbands and wives can wait to they get home to discus o controversial issues . Again the gathering together is not a sign of self edification . That can be done at home in the private so that is does not subtract from the ceremony. (the glory of God)

As man respect the glory of the unseen Christ that works in them both . God has given man his own represented glory his wife . . not leaving woman without a glory of her own hair it must be covered .In that way the only glory seen is represented by two the witness God has spoken .(hair uncovered. . hair covered )

And this is how it usually ends up on TalkJesus - the threads deteriorate and get nasty.

it is something that some can not see at all is my belief, they think by being "right" they have privledge to speak down or be rude to others, yet scriptures tells us the exact opposite

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

1 Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant

these descriptions are scripture ,,right here,, and there are many other I could post,, describe the behavior of a mature follower of Christ, yet when we are not mature I doubt we can even see this behavior in our post. its a shame christian forums run off a lot of people searching, just because so many immature chirstians post in a arrogant, mean way. I am as guilty as the next guy, just a observation I have come to realize over the years.

the bible says we should be able to bridle our tongue and have self control, and that Love is not rude, and not arrogant, and able to be patient against evil and endure all things, are we doing that??

Read and accepted thanks,

There is of course John the Baptist, who had the Holy Spirit "from his mother's womb". But he seems to be the only exception.

And HE wasn't an exception either. NOBODY was infilled with the holy SPirit befor John 20:22. Previously Jesus hadn't died, NOBODY was cleansed, and the SPirit didn't indwell. HOWEVER previously the Holy SPirit came ON any number of folks in the Old Testament, and empowered them. John the Baptist as an OLD TESTAMENT PROPHET was one of them. The NEW Testament didn't start until Calvary.

The title of this thread says "regeneration". I'm not entirely sure what that means... is it like reincarnation?

"Regeneration" when used by a Calvinist is a "Buzz word" that defines a state as a "work around" for their "Total depravity" theology. It appears to be related to the "DRAWING TO CHRIST" (John 6:44) without which NOBODY can be Born again, Other "theological systems" refer to it as "CONVICTION Of SIN and of Judgement",

ONLY under CONVICTION OF SIN can a person really REPENT and Surrender to God, crying out to HIM in FAITH (that He gifts Eph 2:8,9).

The Born Again person is immediately INDWELLED by the Holy Spirit (which is what makes them "Born Again"), and either simultaneously, or at a separate time, they are in Jesus' words, "Endued" (clothed with) with Power as the Holy Spirit who is already IN them, also comes ON them, as He did on folks in the OLD Testament giving the POWER for ministry. That's essentially the "Acts 2:4 phenomenon", which still happens today.

And the ability to speak in "tongues" (privately), but not necessarily PUBLICALLY (as in a message to a congregation) typically is part of the "Baptized in the Holy Spirit" package - it was in 1900 during the Pentecostal revival, and it was again in 1964 in the Charismatic outpouring, which effected PRIMARILY "Liberal Denominations", and was REJECTED by the "Historic Pentecostals" (who, being related to Wesleyan Holiness theologies, didn't see the Charismatics as being "Holy Enough"). A LOT has changed in that regard since the '80s, as the "Holiness folks" realized that their "Holiness" wasn't actually very "holy" at all. Mostly just religious legalism.

In any case - you can speak ENGLISH, but that doesn't mean you can speak prophetically unless you're specifically GIFTED to do so. In the same fashion while I've spoken in tongues for the last 48 years (which is speaking to God 1 cor 14:14), but I CAN'T speak a message in a tongue in a meeting without being specifically gifted to do so, and I never have been. My burden is Interpretation of Tongues, and prophetic utterance.

While I am not sure when that oral tradition called a "sign gift " ( charismatic) made its introduction .It was there during the first century showing it self for what the oral tradition brought as fruit .. . . . senseless sounds falling backward slain the Spirit

I would challenge the idea of the oral tradition of any kind of so called "sign gift ". Spiritual gifts that follow after prophecy yes, not displayed by the flesh . . .displayed in prophecy before hand in the word ,as law.

The foundation of the doctrine as a law must be found and studied ( Isaiah 28) then the testimony of the law (1 Corinthians 14:21 ) will acknowledge the witness . . Yet for all that they will still refuse to believe . .prophecy the Tongue of God in exchange for their own wonderment of self edification .

John 4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

John 6:30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

The whole idea makes God into a Circus Seal . . .work a miracle and then we see we will believe (exercise faith)

No you did not s say " I said that the exact phrase" had you said that i would have agreed . Enough of your games

I am not playing games. In my first response to you I said that Scripture does not say what you claimed, and your EXACT words were what I referred to. If you couldn't see that, it isn't my problem; but that is what you said, and that is what I said.

Blessings.

If that is about me, I did not get nasty. If someone thinks that I did, that is their opinion...and we all have opinions, don't we!!!

Yup you should run for political office the spin is there.

The only "spin" is what you put on it. Here is a fact about me, for those who have not yet got it - I am all about the facts and the Truth of Scripture. If someone makes a claim about something that Scripture does NOT say, then I will call them out on that for their own sake, not because I am "high-minded" or some other nonsense that people like to throw out there.

Scripture says that we get saved and can only walk with God according to Truth...not lies, assumptions, or anything else outside of truth...

II Thessalonians 2:13
And we should always give thanks to God for you, brothers, loved by the Lord, because God chose that you should be saved as the firstfruits of those in this area, who are saved through the sanctification by the Spirit and believing in the truth.

People can't walk with God according to false ideologies...

Acts 18:24-26
24 Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the Scriptures.
25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.
26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

Hope that helps.

Blessings

No it is not about you - the threads start off with good banter over doctrine and scripture then as the pages increase over time the threads often deteriorate into a slanging match between
one or two contributors in a tit-for-tat exchange.
Then a moderator intervenes and calls persons to order and they "clean up" the thread by deleting the nasties.
