I use the NKJV for studies. I find it holds truer in some of the translations.
The Message for areas that I find complicated in theology.
Along with I find it easier reading for instance reading the book of Job. It helped me better understand some of the tough situations.

I use a Comparitive Study Bible, it has 4 different versions on each page, so I can take more in while I read, I really love it! Helps me alot, especially because people want to say that the Bible was changed so much, but in reality it really wasn't.

I really read New King James at church. At home, I have three different bible that I use to read or study, I use New King James, New International Reader's Version and at bed I use the Daily Walk Bible (New Living Translation) I like to use different bible in case if I didn't understand. I find that to be helpful. Sometime I don't always understand the New King James, so I look up in other bible. Since I have been doing that, New King James began to make more sense and I learn. If I don't understand, Now I know where to go....HERE......I do like this website because everyone here can help other to grow in spiritual. It sure is wonderful.
God Bless You.....

I use KJV simply because it is the most accurate translation to the original texts and the most easyiest to read. I will read the NASB or the NKJV from time to time but I always go back to my KJV.
I have found that several translations have taken out very critical elements, such as:
John 3:16 (KJV) says: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son" and John 3:16 (ESV) says: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son". The ESV is simply not as accurate on this critical element of the Gospel. If we take out this essential "begotten", we change the meaning of the passage and if we read Romans 8:14 (KJV) " For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." this makes us sons of God also. So if we are to read the ESV and Jesus is the only Son of God then Romans would not be accurate and thus scripture begins to fall apart. Thus, Jesus is the "only begotten Son". Begotten being monogenēs in the Greek and meaning "single of its kind". So Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and we are sons of God.

I use the NKJV and will probably stick with it... I have so many sermon notes written in the margins, that I just don't want to quit using them.

Im so happy!, because ive just downloaded KJV Go Bible in my cellphone, I still always bring my Bible. But ofcourse its such a breeze when i can just browse and quote something to text a friend and it has concordance too. If u have a phone that works with java, PM me. Maybe i can help you how to have KJV Go Bible in your phone too.

I am presently reading the bible on line so get to see a lot of versions at one time. Not really sure which I like or don't like.

Me too, I like reading online to cross-reference with 3 or 4 for each passage. I find The Message version easy to understand reading.

But not to forget - I always pray before, during and after and always feel that Jesus leads me to the answers in my heart. I always feel no matter what version I'm reading, the power of the Holy Spirit, each and every time. It makes me feel fulfilled!

This feeling still amazes me!

God Bless the Word

The only one I have kind of read is the english standard version. I had no idea there were so many different bibles. Why is this?

My preference is the NKJV, which for me is easier to understand than the KJV (which I also use). I feel it is good to read many different versions, when seeking answers. For simplicity, the HCSB is very good, especially if you are having trouble understanding a particular verse or verses.

But most of all, as we are each unique individuals, so will be our choice of Bible we feel most comfortable with.

So many wonderful "flavors" of Bibles, I love most of them so I cannot pick
. And then there is a camp or following that is willing to fight for most of them as the one true authoritative bible- the body of Christ inflicts most of it's own wounds.

IMO, it's Satan trying to corrupt/change the Word of God :(

So true. There is a good example of this in the first 2 verses of the bible.

Genesis 1:1-2 Current NIV
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Genesis 1:1-2 KJV
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Now if you notice the one simple word that has changed. May seem like nothing, but if you further examine this you will see this is a huge problem and is what happens all the time. We let things creep in...it's very dangerous.

For those that don't know, this change was made when the gap theory was introduced, I won't go into what this theory is (unless people are unaware and ask) but this change from the word "and" to the word "Now" allows you to place time between the verses which allows for the gap theory to be possible. "and" indicates that it is happening at the same time as the previous verse, while "Now" allows there to be time between.

Just an example, thoughts?

The church I went to some years ago used the NIV........I was starving to death spiritually, and didn't understand why, until God brought us to a church that teaches from the KJV, and line upon line teaching.

There is a powerful difference, I believe, even tho the NIV is easier to read, leaving out phrases, is taking away from Gods word.
We are warned about doing that.

We gently refere to it now, as the 'N'early 'I'nspired 'V'ersion.....and stick to the KJV.

This is a personal view, and not meant to be detrimental to any......Our assistant Pastor here at the church we now attend uses it, but I prefere the King James., and LOve the line upon line, precept upon precept teaching....:friends:

This has been a long-standing poll. . . 2004!

I use the New King James Version, and also the Amplified Bible, as it is the only two Bibles I have. I guess I do have a King James Version from my Mormon days still in my possession. But, my favorite is the NKJ since it is all marked up from all my studying and I know where to find everything. It's kinda like a diary cause I wrote questions I'd had in the margins. Makes it more interesting to know where I was and where I am now.

While I actually prefer the NKJV, the bible I've been carrying for 22 years is a KJV. All my notes are in it, special stuff highlighted, grey duct tape along the spine, guess we're just attached:wink:

The King James is a trustworthy version in English.

In Spanish I read the Reina-Valera.
