NIV
That the only bible my parents pretty raised me in so now it's kind of different reading others with some different bible studies i am in

Some facts about KJV bible translation, within 240 years the original 1611 version under went 10 revisons and thousands of ammendments to make it more accurate. God's Word may be inerrant but man's or the king's translations of God's Word are not.

I see the power of God when I look at the history of the King James Version. Men of God died for the King James Version. The King James Version is a prayer answered by God, Himself. The King James Version isn't hard to read. It's on a 5.8 grade level scale. The King James Version isn't broken, so why fix the Bible and make a new version every year or so. The Word of God is preserved by God, Himself. I believe the King James Version is the preserved Word of God, without a doubt. I do not look down on anyone that reads another version, but I will thank God everyday for the preserved King James Version. God is good!

Psalms 12:6-7
6 "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." KJV

Thank you for your beliefs Cody I like the KJV also but I do not believe it to be inerrant. God's word is inerrant, but the translations of God's word are not. I am thankful that you don't look down on anyone who reads or prefers another translation of God's word.

The NIV

Our local church, Victory Christian Fellowship, encourages its members to read the NIV because it uses modern day english that's very easy to understand. It was translated by bible scholars from different nations of different denominations to gain international acceptance and safeguard the translation from sectarian bias. In church, we call it Necessary In Victory translation.

I believe that the Holy Spirit, no matter what translation we read, is able to keep us from being deceived. We who love the Truth; He will lead to ALL truth if we're willing and obedient to Jesus' words. I read the NIV and the King James Version and I find them both delightful. Here's a poem entitled Truth (fr. the book Bosom):

I Buy the truth and sell it not; Pro. 23:23, Isa. 59:14,
Dont lose it in the streets. Isa. 9:15, Mat. 13:38-40
Be not the Tail who spreads his lies;
Sowing useless weeds.
II Jesus is the truth; He gives you life, John 14:6, 8:36, Deut.28:13,
And sets you free indeed. Luke 8:11
Live by the Word and be the Head,
Sowing precious seeds.

You are blessed&anointed!

Good post and poem Andrea, you are right, with HolySpirit leading us into truth, we can't go wrong.

(I voted 'other', here is an expansion of that)

I read the following Bibles on a daily basis
(Fore each of these I have both paper editions
& electronic formats:)

1. KJV1611 Edition - I love Iesus the sonne of God!

2. KJV1769 Edition - (the common KJV),
The electronic edition has the Strong's Numbers.
It is much easier to use than the paper version
(at least I get to set the fount large enough so
I can read it!)

3. HCSB = Christian Standard Bible /Holman, 2003/
This is the one I use in Sunday School to teach
my 6-8 men. New men age 46-60 are put in my
classroom. The 6-8 average attendance men
are age 56 to 68.

More upon request:
Bibles I study weekly, Bibles I study infrequently.

Here are the dates of William Tyndale
listed in Wikipedia:
(ca. 1494–September 6, 1536)

Here are the dates of King James I of England
(King James VI of Scotland)
listed in Wikipedia:
(19 June 1566 – 27 March 1625)

Quoted in post #94:

//I find it amazing how God answered William Tyndale's prayer that was, "Oh, God, open the eyes of the king of England!". Remember the kings before this was against translating the Bible into English. Then not even a year later, God answered his prayer when King James allowed a team of people to get together and work on translating the Bible.//

As can be seen, [tongueincheek] it was quite a miracle God
did there [/tongueincheek]: King James I was born 30 years
after Tyndale died.

Thanks for the correction, brother. I changed the information.

I use the KJV.

It is one of the few that does not have a copyright on it. Every time I have been challenged with the supposed 'errors' of the KJV,I decided to study myself and found the KJV to stand up to all the arguments. I would highly recommend a Strongs Concordance to anyone who is serious about studying as well. My dad bought me one from the goodwill for $1. Can't get much better than that unless it's free.

Be blessed

Actually, the KJV does have a copyright on it.
The Queen of England holds the copyright
for the KJV. The only way you can be sure
that your copy of the KJV is an authenic KJV
is if it is a copyrighted copy.
Some bootleg copies of the KJV have errors
in them.

Here isn't a link (gotta get more posts) to

Thank you for clarifying, Ed. My information came not from actually looking into it, but from noticing that at the beginning of many Christian publications, it will list the bible versions used in the printing of the book, and next to the KJV there is no copyright info as there are with others. Nevertheless, that diminishes nothing from the value of the Authorized Version of the Bible.

Let the Word of God live richly and be glorified in you.

I find as a youth pastor that I use several different Bible versions, I cross referance them to make sure the meanings are the same, or if one is worded on a way that really helps me make God's point to our youth. I find most versions are fairly relieable, however there are versions out there that try to completely change the meaning of the verse, those I do not endorse. I think everyone should at least be open to looking at different versions, but do the research and see what they are all about, don't dislike one or the other because someone else said so. If you are using God's word to bring honor and glory to His kingdom, who cares what version you use?
