I am not King James Only in that I believe it is the only translation that can be used. I am King James Only, in that that is the only translation I use, and I believe it is the best and safest. I have others just for reference use to use in places like this.

You're suggesting that there's a Non spirit-filled study Bible or a plain Bible?!.

God inspired His Word given To us by means of the Holy Spirit and God telling human people exactly what to write --so wouldn't it All be Spirit-filled.

But, there Are some translations/ versions that aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

Personally, I go with NKJV / the Older NIV and lately the ESV.

The older NIV Is a study Bible -- the others' are plain Bibles.

Hi @grateful4grace, i have a question, what if you are a missionary who is assigned in a place where the people you are going to share the Word understands only the language that they have? What do you do?

NIV at church, ESV at work and NRSV at home.

My preferred is the NRSV it's an accurate translation in elegant English. ESV is good for private study and reading, but I find it's very, very awkward for reading out loud. I think the translators have opted to follow the sentence structure of the original Hebrew and Greek, and it leads to unnatural sounding English.

If I can share a thought?! A person who is interested In missions and wants to be a missionary does need to learn the language of the people they are trying to reach.

A mission agency will require a perspective missionary To learn the language of the people or what point would there be to go?

On short-term missions trips that various churches' sponsor --there's still a need to be able to communicate -- maybe through an interpreter. there was one group who went to help people learn English using the Bible as their text book.

I think you are confusing the 'importance of translating' with the 'translations'. Translating is important. It can take more than one persons life time to accomplish a translation from the Hebrew/Greek to some unknown tribes language. This doesn't make all translations equally good.

Thats true translating is important. But for me using different translations is important too ( this is to consider the level of understanding in terms of spirituality of a person we are sharing too) like here in my home town we are speaking tagalog-but im used to study NKJV- at first i tried to used it for them but Because the translations is too deep for a new believer so i need to adjust— but just need to be very careful coz
As you have said not all translations are good.

Did you have a copy with the minimal line drawing illustrations? I loved them as a kid!

Yes I remember how i was so amazed reading the Book of John that early morning i was crying reading it and my mom used to tell me, what happen to you?
It’s different there is SOMEONE who can love us unconditionally.

Hi, Sorry if i may share my thoughts. I think and believe that you mean bible have different translations right? not Name because The Holy Bible doesnt have a name but it has different translations. It is the Word of God ( please refer 2 tim. 3:16 )
