Saved by grace and not works of the law which are the purification works.1 Timothy 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
Romans 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
How do you apply the above verses to mean if sinners were to repent from all sins first before coming to & believing in Jesus Christ to be saved because that would mean we were not saved by grace when it involves the work you insists that all sinners must repent from all sins first in order to be saved by Jesus Christ.
Jesus says: Repent or perish. After sinners are saved, then they start running that race daily by looking to Jesus Christ to help them lay aside every weight & sin in walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son to be fruitful as His disciples & being ready to go when the Bridegroom comes.
You say: No, Jesus, I will repent after you save me.
We STILL HAVE TO CONFESS our SINS and tell Jesus we repent of them---we don't want to do them anymore.I am not saying not to repent from sins, but I am saying for habitual sinners out there that have tried to quit sinning and could not, that they are to come to Jesus Christ anyway because that is His job to destroy the work of the devil in our lives so we can follow Him as His disciples.
We have to do that to get saved.
Those scriptures tell US TO PURIFY OURSELVES by obeying.1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.....
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
To make sure you are reading this; Whose work is it to destroy the work of the devil in our lives above? Answer please.
1 Peter 1:22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.
The Philippians OBEY.Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:...
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Again, who began the good work in you? You repenting from all sins first or did He saved you when you believed in Him to be saved? And Who will finish that work? You or Him?
Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling
Paul is talking about the evil work people do AGAINST HIM, like putting him in the LION'S DEN.
2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Who shall deliver you from every evil work? You or Him? Who will preserve you unto His heavenly kingdom? You or Him? Do you trust Him to do it as God or not?
Just read the very next scripture that you quoted.
We live by faith means we have faith in Jesus and we don't have to do the purification works of the law.
That is why it is written simply that the just shall live by faith...
in Him and His New Covenant to us that He will do this. When I see His commandment, I go to Him to help me to do it. That's faith in Him applied. Where is yours?
You preach against us obeying Jesus to get saved. You really think Jesus wants you to keep doing that?
