Faith or works or both?

Your theology is a bit off. While Some of what you're saying Is true. God is the Only One who knows Who the 'elect of God' are. The Holy Spirit is the One who does the speaking to the individual heart. You're refering to the parable of the seed planted in the various soils. The seed is the Word of God and the soils are people. The elect Will accept Christ as personal Savior. But the Gospel unto Salvation Still has to be accepted or rejected. God alone knows who will or won't.

The good seed/ the elect of God / people have not been planted as seeds and fertilized by the Gospel -- we are not the parable. God was showing a truth to people in an agrarian home life.

It has been noted, since the late nineteenth century, that the parables in the Gospels fall into three groups. These are usually given the names (1) similitude, (2) parable, and (3) exemplary story (sometimes called illustration).

PS. Do you really know what Word "Elect" means. In your context it seems to me that you fully do not understand the word "Elect" exhaustively.

I really like this, especially for myself as I try to learn to love my neighbor as myself, I fail miserably please pray for me. I think some other great scripture that support this is.

Philippians 2:3
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

1 Corinthians 10:24
Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

The simple question is what are we doing for other people that can do nothing in return for us??. That to me is a real world example, do we get excited to help other people?? or is a dread??
There is a real difference in purpose when people do things for others.

A teaching that has gone on for centuries , which teaches a false understanding of its principle . Give to God , and you will recieve 7 X what was given .

The writing of this is correct , But the common teaching of this is wrong .

Why would i say this ? Because of the misuse of what God was saying in the first place .

When you give, it must be from the heart , without expecting anything in return. Not even a thank you.

Let us look at Jesus. He gave us His suffering and His life , it was a free gift.

When the Virtuous gave to those they helped and served , they never expected anything in return.

We need to become the Virtuous

The ascripture that teaches this is Matt 25

this is why Jesus tells us to give in secrete, giving to be seen by others is just not biblical
I have always thought it interesting , you will never hear at the pulpit what Jesus says about tithing. Instead you will always hear the Old Testiment teaching of it.

Money is the new god in many churches. Dont believe me , try telling your pasters , dont pass the collection plate . Tell those pasters , have faith God will provide.

Lol . Its funny how fast concepts change where only living of faith exists

Greetings Sue

It is true only God knows what names are in the Book of Life and the Lamb, but we are told we will know a tree by its fruit, there we are able to distinguish those who are born again. The light in some may be a little dim, but time will allow the fruits to show, the same is said for the bad fruit, the may be a wolf in sheep,s clothing, but again in time the true fruit always appears, whether good or bad.

Blessings

Hi Paul, I believe people who move in the Spirit, can tell by the movement of the Spirit, whether a person is of the Spirit or not. Sometimes before a person is aware themselves, God can reveal his own. One can be in conversation with a person who is not a professing Christian and, in the conversation, be mightily moved. This to me shows me that the Lord is aware of the person and when this happens, I tell them, a good leading to witnessing the gospel. bless you bro.

I totally agree Trevor, the point I was making was a simple example as a reply to a comment by Sue.

Either way the spirit is involved in a believer, whether it be instantaneous or whether it be the revealing of a wolve in sheeps clothing.

Bless you

I've never experienced the Spirit pointing out a wolf in sheeps clothing, I normally suss them out by sensing bad vibes. But then maybe the bad vibes are the way the Spirit points them out. I'll have to seek the Lord on thay one. bless you Paul.

Greetings Trevor

It is the Holy Spirit pointing them out my friend, the person who puts themselves over as a sheep, a saved believer, can be sussed out, but the sussing I believe is done by the Spirit of God. They do not have the Holy Spirit their father is the devil.

Bless you brother

Mathew 6:24
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon

maybe your not listening to the right preachers,:) I know plenty of preachers that teach biblical money handling

There are also preachers who make money out of preaching, especially the tv ones.

Requesting giving for 'their' ministry, but how much do they give back when asked?

Churches won't survive in this culture without money. Church people gather together in buildings of some sort -- requiring utilities / light , water, gas. The pastor needs to be paid -- his family needs a place to live and food to eat and transportation. And a good church will be supporting missions both foreign and local.

Back a few months ago -- a person needs employment -- the person Will pray about getting a job / income -- but Without going out and aggresively Looking for that job -- it Won't come to your doorstep knocking.

Back some years ago a church Did try the approach to make it known that there were two places in the church where people could place their offering Rather than sending the offering plate around. Just to see what would happen.
After a few weeks, they found that people Needed to be reminded to give. People Tend to be lazy with their finances. There Are those who will give to help support church expenses. But lots Won't.

The churches I go to over the years have quarterly business meetings -- we can see in black and white where church finances stand.

Some churches have their congregants do pledges every year.

There is a lot of truth in your words . It is true that those who walk in the Spirit recognize others who do so

However, When a person is born again , if you do not fan into a flame your faith , if you do not allow the fire of God to consume you , if your heart isnt circumcised. Then you will not recognize the Holy Spirit in your brothers and sisters .

Just because a person recieves the Holy Spirit , is still not a guarentee of Heaven. Because we have a choice. Will we walk with God ? Or we , like many who fell after being born again in the 70's and 80's , will we allow pride to rule us.

Those bad vibes you speak of are the Movement of the Holy Spirit within you .

Lol that is a good start

Learn to recognize that Movement within
