Christians and the Tribulation

Salvation before the tribulation is by faith in Jesus John 3:16, in the tribulation it is by torment, martyrdom and rejecting the mark of the beast Rev 2:10, Rev 20:4 and Rev 9:4.
Salvation is freely available till the Holy Ghost leaves - mid trib. After that it will be by being a martyr as a trib saint. Any one that does not take the Mark will be topped.

Rev 13 ; [15] And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain.

Disagree. Matt 24:15 will be a visible and identifiable event that the whole world will see and know of. This is the start of the tribulation. Note how verse 16-17 says when people see this, flee! Great distress is coming.
That happens - mid trib.. Not pre trib. And is the start of Gods Wrath - The final three and half years. Of which the rapture ready Christian Church will escape.

You need to understand that Christians are 'His people' at this current moment in time. Before Christ and during the tribulation, 'His' holy people were and are 'Jews'. All non Jews in the tribulation are not 'His' people. They will only be 'His' people / tribulation saints if they endure torment, reject the mark of the beast and if necessary are martyrs Rev 2:10, Rev 20:4.

Jeremiah 30 makes crystal clear the fact that the Jews are His people in the tribulation. Jer 30:22 So you will be my people, and I will be your God.
Yep - till the time of the Gentile has ended and the Jews begin. Which is when the rapture ready Church is raptured - mid trib.

Not at the level scripture foretells. We have an apostasy, but not a great one.

You would need an antichrist to give all an ultimatum to have a great apostasy. When people realize they can't buy food without the mark of the beast, they will acknowledge that this ''Christian'' thing is not working out for them anymore.
We have an apostasy -

Which just means a falling away of the Church from its once prominent doctrines -

Nothing to do with the Mark and all that.

The Holy Ghost leaves?

That goes against the core message of the gospel.

Please consider very carefully what you are saying here.
The primary role of the Holy Ghost is to be a comforter and purifier of the Church. It is why Jesus sent the Holy Ghost. And He will enable and present the Church to the Father at the Rapture. Then his role ends. The Church is with Jesus.

Maybe His role changes and he is sent back to aid the trib martyrs - no one knows - yet.

This is wild speculation. It has no grounding in the Bible whatsoever, nor in the historic teaching or the church, and it is contrary to the gospel.

You are treading very close to blasphemy here.

There is a problem with the mid trib believers. There will only be a rapture when Jesus comes with His 10 thousand Holy Ones to wage war against those who oppose God. Do you really think it will take Jesus and His warriors 3 1/2 years to put down the armies of the evil one? I would amagine, perhaps 3 1/2 days at the most. My best guess would be 3 days, thats how long Jesus spent from His death to His ressurection.

The Holy Ghost is a comforter. And will leach us about Jesus and relevant things

Jn14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The Holy Ghost is a Purifier

Jn 16:8, Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit: "When [the Spirit] comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment"

Abides with the Church where ever it goes.

Jn 14:16 ............that he may abide with you for ever;

That happens at the End of the Trib.

When the Church is raptured mid Trib it goes to be with Jesus and attends the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and chill or train till the time to come back WITH Jesus.

Rev19:6-9

6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,

“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
the Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and his Bride has made herself ready;
8 it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—
for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

9 And the angel said[ to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

Yes. I wasn't taking issue with the Holy Spirits role as comforter, teacher, guide and strength to abide in Christ.

But you have stated that the Holy Spirit leaves. This is unquestionably untrue. There is no hint of this anywhere in the scriptures.

I agree. Which, I think, means that the tribulations he spoke of took place at the same time as the desolation and destruction of the temple around 70 and.

That great tribulation has already passed.

So I'm still asking, what is the biblical evidence for a unique future event called The Great Tribulation?
The temple was razed shortly after Jesus went back to heaven....In Matt 24 though Jesus was telling the disciples what would happen in the last days. Yes, there was tribulation in the time the temple was razed but nothing compared to what's coming...soon

When Jesus comes with His tens of thousands of believers, the christians that are on the earth will not be raptured...That is to say, they will not be caught up...They will be gathered together from all parts of the Earth to Jesus...There is no sense in catching them up to heaven when Jesus is on the Earth. So...that is not a rapture

1Thes 4:16; For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
1Thes 4:17; Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

The dead in Christ will rise at this time. So then.. there are either two raptures ( before and after ) or else no one gets raptured until this time.

There has been a lot of debate about when the rapture is here on TalkJesus over the years. This is kind of related, but not necessarily.
Even if you believe in a "pre-trib" rapture, the fact remains there will be Christians that come out of the great tribulation. So maybe they got saved during the tribulation?
Either way, the Bible says at least some Christians will go through at least part of the tribulation.

Rev 7:9; After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and races of people and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;
Rev 7:10; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."
Rev 7:11; And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
Rev 7:12; saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen."
Rev 7:13; Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?"
Rev 7:14; I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

It says here that people from every nation and race of people will come out of the great tribulation.

Matt 24:21; "For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.
Matt 24:22; "Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but
for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

Why are the "elect" still here, it seems at least some of the elect will go through the tribulation.
Mark say the same thing.

Mark 13:19; "For those days will be a time of tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will.
Mark 13:20; "Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no life would have been saved; but
for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

Rev 20:4; Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

Some Christians will be beheaded during the tribulation by the beast, "because of their testimony of Jesus".
For most Christians I have spoken to over the years, the rapture seems to be an all or none type of thing. Either everyone gets raptured, or no one does, but there is a third option I have also heard.
For example the church of Smyrna...

Rev 2:10; '
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

This church will face tribulation for at least "10 days" ( whether that is figurative, or literal remains unknown ). But yet the church of Philadelphia is told...
Rev 3:10; '
Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

So which is it? All get tested, none get tested, or some get tested and some don't?
Daniel says...

Dan 12:10; "Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.
Dan 12:11; "From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.

During the time of the abomination of desolation, "Many will be ... purified and refined". Surely this is speaking of believing Christians. I don't believe non-believers can be purified.

Daniel also says...

Dan 7:21; "I kept looking, and that horn was waging war with the saints and overpowering them

The beast is fighting with the saints and "overpowering" them. Is this a physical death, a spiritual death. This also is unknown. John says the same thing in Revelation.

Rev 13:7; It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and race of people and tongue and nation was given to him.

Why are the saints still here when the beast takes over? Maybe these are those who get saved during the tribulation, but even so, they are there.

There is more... but this is a pretty good start. Who are the Christians who go through the tribulation?

Right! So the Holy Spirit is still here during the AntiChrist's part of the Trib....not taken out of the way.

I think our discussions of Jesus return would be far more healthy and productive if we focused on the hope of resurrection rather than rapture. After all, that's the hope the new testament writers are drawn to.

I agree, but of course it can never be that easy can it? :)

If you are a post-trib person like me, then they are essentially the same thing.

1Thes 4:13; But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
1Thes 4:14; For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
1Thes 4:15; For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
1Thes 4:16; For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
1Thes 4:17; Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them
in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
1Thes 4:18; Therefore comfort one another with these words.

That would effectively be the resurrection. ( Unless there is more than 1 resurrection of the saints ).

1Cor 15:42; So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body;
1Cor 15:50; Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
1Cor 15:51; Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,
1Cor 15:52; in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
1Cor 15:53; For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.

But I only see one resurrection of the saints, so it seems this all happens at the same time.

Rev 20:5; The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6; Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.

There will be second resurrection for the unsaved/unbelievers after the thousand years are complete.

Rev 20:13; And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.
Rev 20:14; Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
Rev 20:15; And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

@KingJ please rethink this. There is no biblical text that says God rejects Christians as his people at any time, certainly not during times of tribulation.

This line of thinking completely undermines the gospel of God's work of salvation in Christ Jesus.

Christians are raptured before the tribulation. 'His' people in the tribulation are the Jews.

Non Jews, can be saints if they reject the mark of the beast Rev 2:10, Rev 20:4. But they are not likely called 'His' people until they do.

Jews as a nation are 'His' people. Before Jesus and during the tribulation. Different dispensations.

When we all meet in heaven, we are all Christians.

------------------

Suggesting Christians need to endure a great tribulation and be justified to God by torment and martyrdom is undermining the cross and the gospel. Please try understand that Hekuran.

Please meditate on Rev 2:10 and Rev 20:4.

According to Rev 2:10 your faith in Jesus means naught in the tribulation. All that matters is that you endure torment and martyrdom. If you don't, no crown.

-------------------

When you grasp Rev 2:10, you will understand that there is no debate to be had here. Mid-trib rapture, no rapture, all nonsensical.

Before tribulation = JUSTIFIED by repentance of sins and faith in Jesus.
During tribulation = JUSTIFIED by torment and possibly death.

Rev 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
