Pretty sure that Jesus at no point states "Worship and venerate my earthly mother."

SignUp Now!You are just guessing that is what He's doing because He didn't voice that instruction, at least not in that verse. He merely told her to look at her son, and he merely told her son to look at her. If He wanted to be clear, why do you suppose He didn't simply tell her son to take care of her?he passage where Jesus instructs His disciple to take care of His mother Mary is found in the Gospel of John. Here is the relevant scripture from the King James Version (KJV):
John 19:26-27"When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home."
In this passage, Jesus, while on the cross, speaks to His mother Mary and the disciple whom He loved (commonly understood to be John). He entrusts the care of His mother to this disciple, ensuring she would be looked after following His death. This moment highlights Jesus' compassion and concern for His mother's well-being, even in His final moments.

I assume it means what it says. What's your point?John 19:26-27"When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home."
Explain in your own words what I highlighted in bold means?
The phrase "that disciple took her unto his own home" is found in John 19:27 (KJV), and it refers to the apostle John taking care of Jesus' mother, Mary, after Jesus' crucifixion. The full verse reads:I assume it means what it says. What's your point?
People cannot learn anything when their minds are closed. Lots of minds that are proud to be closed here. That can be good in keeping heresies to a minimum, but it doesnt allow for recognition of a truth when they see it stated. The phrase "that disciple took her unto his own home" is found in John 19:27 (KJV), and it refers to the apostle John taking care of Jesus' mother, Mary, after Jesus' crucifixion. The full verse reads:
Here's what it means in context:
Mary according to this Scripture Jesus is now saying is John's mother to take care of.
- Jesus' Concern for Mary: While Jesus was on the cross, He saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved (generally understood to be John) standing nearby. In an act of compassion and responsibility, Jesus entrusted the care of His mother to John.
- John's Responsibility: By saying "Behold thy mother" to John, Jesus was asking him to take on the responsibility of caring for Mary as if she were his own mother. This was important because, as Jesus was dying, He wanted to ensure that Mary would be looked after.
- Immediate Action: The phrase "from that hour" indicates that John immediately accepted this responsibility. "Took her unto his own home" means that John took Mary into his household, providing for her and ensuring her well-being from that moment on.
There's a difference between having great honor and worshiping. As the Israelites knew very well. They also had great honor for the Covenant box, but they did not worship itPretty sure that Jesus at no point states "Worship and venerate my earthly mother."
In Catholic tradition Joseph died early, even before Jesus went into his public MinistryGreetings,
Where was Joseph at the time that Jesus spoke to John regarding mother?
Bless you all ....><>
How do you know she wasn't the disciple's mother?

This was not one of Jesus' brothers. How do you know she wasn't the disciple's mother?
How do you know that? This was not one of Jesus' brothers.
1. He wouldn't have to say behold your Mother if He already knew she was.How do you know that?
All prayer and praise is to be to God only.
I don't care what words they use they treat her like an idol among other things.
1. There are many, far more significant than her. When a Christian, fell at the sight of an angel did they no correct them in "I am but a serant also." and "All praise and worship are to God."Many Catholics regard Mary as a significant figure, often seeing her as the second Ark of the Covenant due to her status. They praise her and look up to her in their faith. Similarly, the Jewish people performed rituals with the Ark of the Covenant, so I believe there is a parallel in how figures of reverence are treated across different traditions.
Personally, I will always pray to her half as much as I would pray to the Lord. However, it's important to keep in mind the nuances of religion and devotion. Please note I said devotion and not idolization.
Additionally, it might be more meaningful to look up to figures like Mary rather than the celebrities and singers that many young people idolize.
Your not wrong though, their could be a few people in any church that may idolise her however that needs to be corrected as its considered a sin, you can be devoted to her which is fine.
Holy Mary was a wonderful Saint, and ones story should always be remembered.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth"Holy spirit is NOT the author. It was written by human beings, in their language which you and me should understand till the end of times. Of course the Holy spirit has prompted them and was dwelling within them while carrying out this holy work.
If you want to see the difference between the original scriptures and what we have now, at least refer the Vulgate and Peshitha, that should be available in your nearest Church libraries. Do a fair translation with the available tools. And then, you too will be shocked like me and many other.
Sunny.
Ahh I forgot who I was talking to, I am sorry for being insensitive. I shall happily discuss these with you, though I dislike numbers as they seem to be a bit upfront and harsh when its a discussion. In a good Christian community if someone's mother is in such a situation and they know they won't be able to to take care of her then it makes sense to ask and they to do so.
1. There are many, far more significant than her. When a Christian, fell at the sight of an angel did they no correct them in "I am but a serant also." and "All praise and worship are to God."
2. What "status"? Yes, she was chosen and only God knows the reasons why. Were there other women up for it? Sure. God did choose her and no one will come up with the correct answer.
3. Jews aren't Christians and do NOT believe in the divinity of Jesus.
4. You're 3rd is irrelevant and ass umes I'm making blind/bland statements.
5. I'm not wrong and I'm those on this stance are many especially people who know more than 99% of people here. I've come to the same conclusion from my own learning and from them.
6. Few? Oh, there's far more than a "few" who do. In fact, her grave is known and her bones have been dug up to be paraded around like some "supernaturally powered relic". Pretty sure those instructions are NOT in the Bible.
7. Not just me, but my gut instincts knows there's far more people in Bible history worth regarding as Saints.
Again, show me where in any shape the Bible states by/for Jesus, "Venerate/put above everyone else my earthly mother."
Saying that Mary wasnt any more righteous than alot of other righteous women demeans the Lord that He would choose her by simple lottery. In a good Christian community if someone's mother is in such a situation and they know they won't be able to to take care of her then it makes sense to ask and they to do so.
